So I ran an expirament on the way to school this morning. I drove at the speed limit and didn't take off from a stop light with the RPMs over 2000.

I drive a 2 door manual transmission sport.
I drive about 40 miles and about 50 minutes of 55 MPH roads. Theres 7 traffic lights. Normally on route to school I get excited to see 24 MPG. But today....drumroll, I managed 31.5 miles per gallon average for the trip. It was still climbing.

I know I was driving slow and it wasn't a very fun drive roflmao. But getting 7MPG over my normal driving sure felt great!

I would post a picture but for some reason the site won't allow it...so womp

Wow! I thought 22.3 in my Jeep was great!

Also, for the image, it might be the format or image size. I find logging into the forum from my phone and using copy and paste directly from my photos to work when I am having trouble.

I have a '22 3.6 sTorque automatic JLR. I am lucky if I see 19 mpg combined. I am averaging 18 mpg since new 3000 miles ago. That is averaging 2000 miles of highway driving on a road trip. Fingers crossed my mpg will improve whenever Costco switches back to the summer blend.

I'm so far able to pull 19-20mpg on your average highway going ~68mph....with a 3.6, 35 inch MTs, 8 speed auto, and 4.88s.

Been thinking of going to a smallish 37 like a KM3 next, but I really love the drivability I have now when off trail.

City driving I'm lucky to average 14 - I drive spiritedly when I'm not cruising highway.

Just arrived in Moab today. Drove from California over 800 miles. Speed varied between 65 and 80 mph. Averaged 13.5 MPG. That is with a 21' JLU with a 3.6 on 37s with 456 gearing. Large bags on the roof rack did ot help.

Yes driving slow makes a big difference in gas mileage, I try to be easy on the pedal and on the freeway I'll slap it in manual mode and keep it in 8th gear and use cruise at 60-65 mph and I can usually get 20+ mpg all highway in my JLUR 3.6 on 35s with 2 inch lift.

Similar to my ‘21 JLUXR. I have the same engine, 35” tires and 4.56:1 gears. I average 14.7-15mpg cruising around on the highway at 75

You can estimate the MPG at different speeds: https://saemobilus.sae.org/content/2013-01-1113/

The bottom line is -0.39317v + 54.4049, where V is the highway speed in MPH, will estimate the MPG at different speeds for a 2-door manual Wrangler with a 25 MPG highway EPA rating.

A steady 55 mph in that equation yields 32.7 MPG estimated.

Diesel on 37s With some mountain driving.
Our Grand Cherokee diesel used to see mileage like that on the highway until the government-required reflash “fixed” it. Now we’re getting about 24 mpg and we have less power..

The lie-o-meter in the Wrangler (3.6 on 37s) is showing 14.3 with mixed old man driving. I’m scared to do the hand calculation to see how bad it really is.

Wait, you guys have mountains in NC? I visited twice. Beautiful place. Nice people. Great food. Pretty hills. But we couldn’t find any mountains. ;)
