MPGs dropped by quite a bit the second I started driving how I normally do. 🤪

Jeep Wrangler JL Dash MPGs MORE ACCURATE with TIME 1000007962

Still, pretty good MPGs for going 14 above the speed limit...

In my defense, that's the pace traffic was moving at.

I'm not even going to be able to get through half a tank before 35s go back on my Jeep...

35's go on tomorrow, and then 37th by the end of February.

Pretty good when you figure I've been driving around like an asshole for the last 2 days with excessive idling.

Oh well, so long to accuracy!

Probably won't be getting the J-Scan device to try and fix my tire size on the computer until mid-March. Maybe I'll get lucky and the tire size adjustment will be able to add a continuance to the accuracy I've been getting. 🙏

I've been tracking my MPGs from fill-ups at the pump the last 5 tanks of fuel. I've noticed that after driving almost 50,000 mi on my ECODIESEL Wrangler, the dash almost exactly matches the numbers I'm getting at the pump. Always within 0.2 to 0.5 MPGs accuracy. Close enough that there's no point in calculating at the pump anymore.

So with this knowledge, here is My most recent MPG run at this point (Just filled up this morning, only a few miles in):

This photo is taken inside the community I live in, where the speed limit is 30. That's why you see the cruise control set to 28. I'm not sure what's up with that white line over my mileage driven 🤷‍♂️ The dash has a lot of grease smudges on it, so I'm guessing that's what it is. I just cleaned it off so hopefully future pictures don't come out looking like that.

I'll be posting in here my mileage as I go along. But yeah, ridiculously and strangely accurate. Looking forward to record breaking numbers for a Wrangler with my EcoDiesel, which I always get, because the EcoDiesel is the BEST ENGINE OPTION!
Jeep gauge is NOT accurate, not even close.
I'm at 90k. It's never been accurate.

Hand calculations are one the best ways.

On 38x13.5x17, mostly highway, I'm at about 20.4 mpg. Dash says 24 or higher.
Was at about 26 when stock.
I was doing this back in 2016, cause the dash said 14, but was getting 15 or 16.

Don't tell anybody, I got tired of all the morons on here talking about how their mileage is so good and then referencing the dash.

So I decided, if you can't educate them, join them. That's really what this thread is. It's my stepping into a realm of stupidity and joining the other morons and posting make-believe numbers like they've been doing, and then telling everyone that my numbers are super accurate If anyone questions it, because it's easier to be lazy and say the dash is super accurate than it is to do 30 seconds worth of math on your phone.

Pretty sure the dash MPG calculator uses a GMA; Geometric Moving Average, which place more emphasis on recent readings. That kinda leads to better figures over a longer period of time.

I forget who stated it, but in a topic like two years ago I think, someone had posted about how the dash calculator calculates MPGs, and it's only over the last hundred miles, something like that. So if you're driving super fast for a hundred miles and then the next hundred miles you're driving super slow, your MPGs are going to be off by a shit ton. If you're driving super slow for a hundred miles, and then you're doing breakneck speeds the next hundred, your miles per gallon are going to look stellar when they're actually trash.

Again that was a long time ago I don't know if I could even find that post again.
