Having ripped off some fenders on the trails, poke definitely has a usefulness. On our bronco we even did a fender delete, and yes we've already been in situations that would have trashed the fenders otherwise.

As for those that complain about rock chips and mud, I bought the wrangler knowing that would happen. so ya, it doesn't bother me. and guess what, i don't have PPF!! i also don't have ceramic coating!!!!! how dare i not give a crap about my paint!!!!!
Ain't like your doors are going to rust!

I'll never sacrifice steering angle for tire clearance when a wide stance has the aforementioned benefits as well as increased stability, but to each his own.
Sounds like a 4-door problem.

Just kidding, I totally agree. Just pointing out an alternative.

By reducing backspacing, you add track width, which change geometry, scrub radius, and increase your turn radius.

Wheeling becomes way, way more enjoyable once you stop caring about the paint.
At least thats the way I felt with my 1 month old 2003 Rubicon after the results of the first trip looked like I used a garden rake as a wash cloth.

I don’t see it too much on jeeps in my area. See it more on full size trucks. Looks stupid as shit.

1 month was how long my 2022 lasted as well... came off a trail with the fender hanging off and some body damage on the passenger side door and hinge.... now it's like all bets are off!

But decreasing steering angle by adjusting the stops doesn't? To fit a 38x13.50 AND be able to fully flex the suspension, you need more backspacing in the front and the rear period. If not you'll be rubbing fender liners, frame, control arms, shocks, and probably sway bar end links in my experience. Adjusting the steering stops WAY out will solve some of those issues, in the front only and in my opinion would increase the turning radius more than proper bs would. Obviously there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I try to manage the mods to get the jeep to perform 1st with looks being secondary.

I am with you. I was just pointing out the fact that reducing back spacing has the similar effect as adjusting the steering stop when it comes to turing radius. That is all.

On my rig, I have 4-1/2” lift. In order to keep from rubbing everything I had to go with a 3.5“ backspace on my wheels. I still get a little rub on full flex. People running anything less then 3.5” backspacing on 37’s would just rip out the fender liners while flexing and rubbing front steering and suspension parts. The poke also helps tire placement when crawling also.

Different pokes for different folks
This forum always amazes me with the number of folks so concerned about what others are doing. The whole MYOFB seems lost with many today.
Well this is a forum, and everyone here is having what some call a conversation. Much like the “why don’t you take your doors off” thread, I fail to see why people get super defensive about people having a dialogue back and forth about jeep-related issues. If people want others to mind their own business maybe don’t spend time on a public forum.

I thought this thread was about poke bowls and was a bit confused until I opened it. I must have food on the brain for some reason...
That was my first thought as well. I came here to say “because it’s freakin’ delicious, have you tried it?!”

I was thinking a different kind of poke all together and I don't think there is any debate about whether what is was thinking is good.
No no, there is totally a debate. So please, can you get us started by listing the good reasons? :champagne:
