Those rear seats in the two door make it seem like you could add a third row in a JLU. 😂
People did that in JKUs. They would buy a JK rear seat and bolt it into the rear of the JLU to have three rows.

Something has to be buried under that box else Stellantis would have saved 50 cents and not created it.

I am as curious as the rest of you are.

I bet there isn't anything. That's the same piece in the rear of my JLU that simply matches the length of the sub surround on the opposite side. Why make 2 part #'s when the same can be used in the 2 & 4 door.

That implies it provides some function in some Jeeps. Any idea what that would be?

It looks like it's just a finish trim piece. If it wasn't designed that way the rear cargo area would look odd with one side having a sub and the other side not matching.

This is from a Jeep dealer in Texas

So much for it being a 2 door only thing. This is a 2024 392 in Bikini and I am having a difficult time with the red seats and a Bikini exterior
Either way they both have the mystery "Box" Maybe you could put another sub in there? That would be too easy and as we all know Jeep is not about easy, I would imagine that they would have offered it as an option for a second sub for the low, low price of $1195

Yup, just did some looking at 2 door and 4 doors and it appears they use the same trim panel there now. My 2021 4-door panel stops just in front of the roll bar, so they've clearly changed them. The lower trim piece on the roll bar is also different from mine.

But that still leaves the question.... what is back there?!!!! Maybe something for the side curtain airbags?

Hey @alphawolff, any idea what's behind this panel on the new Jeeps? I suppose if @Tom B truly doesn't have it on his '24, then maybe it is just an interior design change for that got rolled out after production started and nothing is behind it? I can't think of any new "feature" that '24's got that wasn't present immediately. Maybe it was just like the new grille, where they were using up stock of the old grille on various models.

Being there for symmetry with the other side doesn't make a lot of sense aside from if it was a 4-door with subwoofer, since neither 2-door with/without sub or 4-door w/o sub have a similar protrusion on the passenger side.

The only thing there is the location of the radio frequency hub, but it's a bit further back by the roll bar.

Honestly I've never seen this and haven't a clue
