When people say altitude what kind of altitude are we talking to see the benefits. I live in NC and will be doing most of my wheeling in the NC mountains which should be 4-6k feet above sea level I believe. Looking to buy my first wrangler this year. Thanks.
I will get a first hand comparison between 2.0 and 3.6 in about a month when I vacation in the Rockies. Three previous trips to Colorado with my 2019 Sahara 2.0 w/etorque were great, no issues & lots of power. Traded for a 2023 Rubicon a couple of months ago, this time it's the 3.6 with etorque. I live at 1300 ft and will see lots of time at 7 to 11,000 ft. Should be a good comparison between the two. I think I'll be fine. My '76 Cherokee with the 360 did great with just a carb and the AC running (wife was hot). It was good fun.

I'm not so sure about the I4 turbo engine anymore. Looking to pre-order a 2025 Willys Wrangler and leaning towards the 6 this time.....The head gasket blew on my 2021 Sahara at only 18K miles and was held up for over 12 weeks with a nasty silicone snot job on every cover when I got it back from the dealer. Plus (Not sure if related), the transmission heater fractured twice not to mention the death wobble. Traded it in at 22K mikes. Was disappointed not to mention the fact that you need premium gas for this thing....

How is this misconception still floating around 5 years later?
You do not need premium fuel for the 2.0t. It's "recomended" in the manual for best fuel economy.
I have 75k on mine, running the 'cheap stuff' almost exclusively with nary an issue. It's gone through 120 degree summers, high mountains and tons of crawling through deserts and forests, as well as daily driving at 75 on the freeway, without a single detonation or ping.

Again, that is only my experience. Anecdotal evidence is not the same as scientific.
I cannot find any official numbers for the 2.0t's reliability statistics despite several deep searches.
However, it's been around, in heavy use, since the 2019 model year. If there were any major - or minor for that matter- systematic design issues intrinsic to the engine, it would be well known by now.

50k on my 2.0T with zero issues. Great engine/transmission combo. The ZF8 is top notch and they are paired perfectly. In a 2 door the turbo is a rocket off the line and great off road with a really usable torque curve.
I second this .. my 2.0 just hit 50k with zero issues. Even with 35’s it still gets up and goes.

I got 2 80k miles on my 2.0 then had to sell. I did the water pump TSB myself as it was seeping. I also had seeping I fixed myself from the block side of the metal turbo drainback line. Those are both just loose bolts/improper bolt stretch. No other issues and having both the etorque 2.0 and etorque 3.6(It has 94k miles), we both prefer the 2.0. More power down low, great off-road…longer range with slightly better economy.

I started this thread over a year ago when trying to decide between the two. I chose the 2.0 due to a) mpg, b) get up and go c) just to try something different......

So it's been 13 months now and 20k miles (50k miles), and I am more than pleased with the choice. Zero issues, nothing but fun and frivolity. Lots of pep, great gas mileage (29 on trips) and seems reliable as heck. (I hope I just didn't jinx myself).

I would make the same choice again without hesitation, this is a fun ride and a huge upgrade over the V6 IMHO (I had 2 of those)......oh, and I have not used anything other than 87 octane gas for the whole time. I keep thinking I should try premium, but then I say why if it works don't fix it.....?

Just keep Premium in mind if or when you tow with your Jeep, and you should be fine.

The GME T4, as it's known, has been around since 2016 in the Alfas and 2018 in our Jeeps. That's long enough to have given the engine a fair rep, doubly so since any issues that might've come to light would be well-documented on the interwebs.
