Tazer (Programmer) for the JL

Might be a dumb question but without unlocking the NAV, can addresses be added via voice recognition or something? I wasn't aware this lock existed and it might be irritating if there's no way around it normally, although I will most likely use Maps via CarPlay most of the time anyway.

Just installed mine tonight and honestly didn't do much other than change my tire size. Dispointing for the price as I could have had my dealer do it for free.

I now have a bright red LED constantly on my dash (similar to the alarm LED on the JK, maybe it's the same). So that's cool.

Selected to disable my TPMS system and yes the light on the cluster is now off however it tells me I still have a tpms malfunction every time I start the Jeep and my radio tells me my tire pressure is low. This was honestly almost the whole reason I bought it.... If anyone has input on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Just following up on my own small issues for anyone else who runs into the same.

Everything just seemed to work itself out over a 24 hour period of time. After a few drive cycles everything seems to have settled out and working perfectly. I'll check back in if something starts acting up but I'll play around with it a little more this weekend if I have time.

Question for anyone playing with lighting... is there anyway to turn just the halo's off permanently? They are truly my one and only gripe about this Jeep. TIA.

Not currently but contact Z automotive. They seem very receptive and maybe they could add that to the feature list.

So basically if you talk up a product too much there is no incentive for the maker of said product to become a sponsor. Other potential sponsors may see that and not bother to become a sponsor either. Thus it affects revenue flow. Nothing wrong with that. Frankly I’m impressed with what we can say given some other forums on the internet.

That is just stupid. Sounds like the crap they were doing on the JK forum which led to the forming of a much more successful forum by someone else. So I wonder what happens when someone makes a negative review of a sponsors product...

Just installed my TazerJL. Works great although I do wonder why they just didn't add a 10th option off of the main menu called "Tazer Setup" and then just use the regular arrow keys and enter key? I'm sure there is probably a good reason for it.

Yesterday I took my JL in to have the windshield replaced. As I dropped it off, the SA plugged his tablet into the JL and after a minute came over and asked if I'd had calibration service performed on the Jeep. I said no, he got a confused look on his face. I had unplugged my Tazer and the SGW block from the Jeep. When I picked the Jeep up, he mentioned that they could calibrate my speedo to fit my large tires. I told him I was good and he said, that Jeep has told them that making ANY changes to vehicle settings through a third party tool could affect warranty status and that they can tell if we do. He then clarified that "they" the dealer didn't care, but the new tool they use connects to Jeeps servers and KNOWS what has been authorized. He recommending that if I did change anything in those settings, reset them before bringing it in so the tool wouldnt see it. I'm guessing that since Jeep is charging for the services, they are going to push that "hacking" the vehicle code is modifying it and could affect warranty status. The odd thing is that I had reset everything to the original values, but he mentioned specifically that the tire size/speedo settings and TPMS were flagged. Those were the two settings I had changed to factory settings. I know that Moss-Magnuson protects you from warranty issues unless a product affected an OEM part, but I'm guessing that if they pushed it hacking their code using a third party tool would put us on shaky ground. Something to think about.

I had mentioned this in an earlier post here. Yes, it is best to get all setting back to factory / un-marry the programmer and then disconnect/remove the Main module and the SWG module from the vehicle. Also, do not say a word to anyone at the dealership about using a programmer... if they ask deny using a programmer. No matter what they say, say daaaah, no I have not used a programmer.

The SA agent said nothing new to my ears ... Truth be told, FCA may be / can be monitoring what is being fed to them by the dealership's computer/tool. This makes sense..

Yes, the dealership may overlook your using a programmer but FCA may cry foul lets say.

Moral of your story is.... do what I said in the beginning of this post and in past posts before you go to the dealer for service.

By the way, many dealers will care. Some may not admit to you they care, but they do. Do you blame them.. Your use of a programmer, is $ out of their pocket, for doing things with your programmer that you would be paying them to do.

FYI. The firmware 11.0.1 update is out and available for download from their website. I performed it and it went very smooth without any hiccups.
Added functions and the NAV lock out has been corrected.
