Yesterday I took my JL in to have the windshield replaced. As I dropped it off, the SA plugged his tablet into the JL and after a minute came over and asked if I'd had calibration service performed on the Jeep. I said no, he got a confused look on his face. I had unplugged my Tazer and the SGW block from the Jeep. When I picked the Jeep up, he mentioned that they could calibrate my speedo to fit my large tires. I told him I was good and he said, that Jeep has told them that making ANY changes to vehicle settings through a third party tool could affect warranty status and that they can tell if we do. He then clarified that "they" the dealer didn't care, but the new tool they use connects to Jeeps servers and KNOWS what has been authorized. He recommending that if I did change anything in those settings, reset them before bringing it in so the tool wouldnt see it. I'm guessing that since Jeep is charging for the services, they are going to push that "hacking" the vehicle code is modifying it and could affect warranty status. The odd thing is that I had reset everything to the original values, but he mentioned specifically that the tire size/speedo settings and TPMS were flagged. Those were the two settings I had changed to factory settings. I know that Moss-Magnuson protects you from warranty issues unless a product affected an OEM part, but I'm guessing that if they pushed it hacking their code using a third party tool would put us on shaky ground. Something to think about.
If my dealer pulls that garbage, I'll point out that every Mopar lift they've sold for JK's has been programmed by the dealer with a Superchips or similar programmer that they give to the customer when they finish the job. I'll also remind them that they told me they'd do the same thing with the JL when an aftermarket programmer is available. Therefore, they will keep my warranty intact the same way they do with all the other lifts they install where they do the program with the aftermarket programmer. They can't pick and choose who gets the warranty and who doesn't. They have to be consistent or they lose. I doubt my dealer would pull this crap, but we'll see!

Your guy may have simply guessed at it, too. Maybe they can tell, but they'd better have their ducks in a row if they deny any warranty work for someone knowledgeable about their practices.

Can you change DRLs from white to orange? Specifically for LED DRLs?

Well, I was staying late at the shop as USPS was showing my TAZER as out for delivery.... I just updated the tracking info now USPS claims "Delivery Attempted - No Access to Delivery Location"
It is sunny outside, the shop gates are all open and I am impatiently waiting for every damn car to drive by so that I can play with my new "toy."
USPS is such a Joke!
They do this all the time with my Amazon packages that I am supposed to get free two day or next day delivery on.
Sorry, I had to rant....

How difficult is this SGW module to get to? I looked under the dash(I barely fit just to look at it.) I can easily see the OBD connector and barely see the plugged in black connector above it. Is that the SGW module(Circled in red below?)
I wish my head/hands weren't so damn big so I could see it and get to it easier.

FYI. The firmware 11.0.1 update is out and available for download from their website. I performed it and it went very smooth without any hiccups.
Added functions and the NAV lock out has been corrected.

11.0.1 – 4/19/18: Added Line Lock/Rock Crawl/Winch modes
Added Sway Bar, Locker, Front Axle, splash settings
Fixed Nav In Motion
Don’t really understand what the adds are - what is Line lock? What is Rock Crawler?

Thought sway bar disconnect and lockers were only available in a Rubicon?

Splash settings?

Yes, unmarrying it reset it to the original settings.
I bet there is a history log file written. I don’t doubt one bit that dealer can see what settings have been toggled, even if put back to default and device unmarried.

Hopefully the Tazer developer can figure out how to cover tracks...

Dealership software can detect almost anything that has been done even if completely removed and put back to factory settings. Audi (and many other brands) has been doing this for years to detect when owners use tuning to increase boost pressure on turbocharged cars to greatly increase power, then break something that isn’t designed to handle said boost/power, then erase the tune and take it back to Audi and get them to repair it under warranty. Once detected Audi “blacklists” the VIN from ANY warranty service. Even if it is unrelated to the engine tune. Magnuson-Moss? Get a lawyer and take it to court. They’ve got lawyers too and you’ll run out of money before they do.

I believe that dealerships might not routinely check. But if they do detect monkeying around with their system you could be out of luck. Be prepared to deal with this.

This is one thing you love about retailers of non stock items.
They always bring up the Magnuson-Moss that says they can't deny you.
You are correct, our pockets will never be as deep as the manufacturer.
Everyone forgets you still will have to take them to court and you will run out of money before they do.

There are laws to protect us consumers from manufacturer bullshit like this, thankfully.
Sure the law protects you, but who can afford to get an attorney to fight a warranty claim?

Can companies afford bad press? Do they want a social media attack? They don't just ignore these laws. How do I know? Some of us old guys know how companies used to be. That's why the laws were made. They are MUCH better about this stuff now. Besides. If one dealer won't cover it, another just might. There is a wide variance among Jeep dealers as to what they will and will not do. That's another reason a strong relationship with a selling dealer is important.

Another feature that I would like to see is allowing for two TPMS settings. One for 2wd and 4hi. Then for 4 lo you could have a second lower setting.

I don't think I am going to unmarry my device when I take my jeep in for service but I will remove the tazer and plug the SGW back in. All I have changed is the tire size and the tpms sensor was lowered to 15psi. It's not a tune so they can't (most likely won't) deny warrantee on your engine. I guess it is possible that the cpu fails and they can blame the tazer on that??? One danger is that if they replace the cpu, your tazer would be locked out but I think that is highly unlikely for regular maintenance work.

Edit: I guess I could unmarry if the tazer remembers my last settings but I don't know if it does. That way I can remarry the tazer and not have to go through the setup again.

I like your thinking. If the Tazer remembered all previous settings, the marry/unmarry would be super quick and convenient.
