Soft Top window blowing out

My soft top window was warrantied by Jeep and I greatly appreciate that! However, for anyone that has a 2018 Rubicon/Wrangler JL with the premium soft top I would highly encourage you to seek additional "securing methods" for the soft top panels when in use. There are no zippers or snaps for these panels and they will "fly off" at some point due to the plastic wearing out, stretching, etc. We've only had our soft top in use for 3 months. I'll be adding a high grade velcro or straps to help keep them in place going forward.

Update: I drilled a pilot hole through the window mount and base mount to place a pin in it. Trimmed a 1/16th of an inch off on both ends of pin to secure it. Cheesy fix but should withstand a blowout.

No sweat! I figure @68 cents each from Home Depot is a better alternative than losing a window and waiting for a replacement. I might make it “Gangsta” and paint them black to hide them a bit. We’ll see what the mood strikes

I haven't had any issues (yet), but I was hearing enough unnerving noises coming from the rear windows while the top was in sunrider position last week to not feel comfortable doing that again. I was looking at the Bestop NX assembly video and the side/rear panels look much more secure. The rear window is zippered to the side panels on the sides. The side panel pillars hook into the top and have a snap/lash at the bottom and the c-channels run the entire length of the panel. It doesn't go "full down", but, I could live with that for a safer "sunrider with windows" mode. I wonder if Bestop would do a version of the factory panels, but with zippers on the back window like the NX top (and maybe a more rigid upper/rear section on the sides). Based on their full top pricing, a set of panels would be half the price of the Mopar pieces.

I had this happen tonight ,top up window's closed in a construction zone the driver side panel blew out. No way to retrieve it, the work zone had concrete barriers on each side . Only 1059 miles on my Sahara and I have lost a windshield and driver's side rear panel. Not happy at all.

Hasn't happened to me yet but I could easily see enough pressure causing that bottom slot to pop out then a window would take flight. Schism75 has an excellent idea though I keep wondering what else might look "prettier" than a hitch pin. Not that anyone else would see it. A self-tapping screw would probably just strip or become loose over time.

Thanks! I’ve found that the pins hold better if reversed, facing forward ,and pitched down so the end of the pin hooks in the opening of the plastic mount. I’ve ran highway speeds several times with zero issues. Tried different variations like sun rider mode with windows up and sun rider with all windows down. Cheap fix and I also
tethered my pins to the roll bar when not in use.

Thanks, I was able to go to the dealer this afternoon and they (not the selling dealer) will replace the panel under warranty.

I noticed while driving at highway speeds that sometimes the rear windows are slack and other times the rear windows are bowing outward as if air pressure is pushing on it. Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be that a auto recirculate setting or some other climate control setting be helping to cause the blowouts when top and all windows are closed? I haven't been able to pattern when this happens, but when i notice this condition in my outside rear view mirrors, i open my door windows to try to reduce the pressure.
