Hello, I finally was able to purchase my first Wrangler after many years of wanting one. I got an 2018 4 door Sahara with a dual top and recently put on my soft top. I noticed that when I drive with my windows down the rear window comes unlatched from the body. I took it by the dealer and they said that this is normal for a soft top. I wanted to get other users options if this is actually normal. Maybe it is being a new Jeep owner but it seems like a design flaw to have to check if your windows are still secured every time you take your car out.

My roof has the green tabs and I've never had that happen. I do unfasten to two bottom tabs when I put the roof in the Sunrider mode to prevent any pressure build up. Mine are real tight on the side tabs. Sounds like yours is an older one. I wonder if that is the reason that the older ones seem to be having issues with the rear side windows blowing out.

Yeah ...your Dealer is an ass! The windows should not pull out when driving in any mode. I have had 6 wranglers prior to the JL and none of them did that..and yes they had the sunrider. It may be a design flaw as was posted that the dealer does not want to warranty! ..the new green tabs !! I would def be demanding a new set of windows per warranty had I purchased the dual top.

Did your previous 6 soft top have zipper windows? The dealer can't put in newer windows under warranty because Jeep has not recognized it as a design issue, no matter how much a customer demands. I have trouble getting the rear window undone because all of the tabs are so tight.

There are posts of people loosing their windows on the highways and the dealers replacing under warranty, of course that depends on the Dealership and whether or not they want a repeat customer down the road. To answer your question ..yes they were zippered. I also have always had 2 door Wranglers, from what has been posted it seems more of an issue with the 4 door. I Just recently purchased the soft top kit and have yet to install so I have no horse in the race so to speak...just what I have read. I would also add that just because they have not recognized it as a company does not mean they won't warranty it! When the top does not perform as intended and said issue can be duplicated (driving on the highway and starts to lift out) then that is a warranty issue...just like paint bubbling on door hinges or rear defroster separating etc....

Since you have the dual-top, I'm assuming it's the twill premium soft top. The soft top we have for my wife's JLU does the same thing, one or both of those little flaps pop out every now and again, mostly when driven with the front windows down or sunrider open.

My JL with the base soft top does not have that problem; instead, the rear window there is a tiny bit short and so the rear hatch rubs the flap every time I open and close it, so it has worn a hole already into the left tab. I still have 2 years left on the warranty so I'm not gonna sweat it for now.

yep, happens to a lot of us. my 2018 Sahara usually has at least one flap undone. Supposedly the green tabs on the newer tops are bigger to help with this. Complain to a different dealer enough and maybe you can get it replaced under warranty.

try making sure you’ve got the top centered perfectly back there, and make sure it’s not pulling one way or the other.

At the Jeep dealer now and looked at the 2020 soft top (green tabs) and the bottom small rear window tabs were very loose while in place while my 2019 I have to wrestle them to get them out. Maybe small variations in the different components make some loose and some tight.

I think that you're right. My 2020 two door is like yours Mike. They're a bear to release and there's no way that they would pop out on their own.

Later,
Johnny
