Thanks, I was able to go to the dealer this afternoon and they (not the selling dealer) will replace the panel under warranty.
Hi Nick,
I am happy to hear your dealer was able to address this. Please feel free to reach out if you need any assistance in the future.

I don’t think you understand how scary and dangerous it was to hear a loud pop when driving on the highway. When I looked in my review mirror cars traveling at 110km/h breaking and swerving to avoid the window. What if there was a motorcyclist behind me? What if my kids or dog were in the Jeep? What about cyclist on the side of the roads?
This is not my first Jeep! The windows will stretch. There are no zippers or extra Velcro reinforcement. The new design is great but there is a problem with the windows! I won’t be surprised if there is a recall. I don’t want to be the one who causes and accident or evens fatal accident.

Same thing happened to me! Windows all up, soft top secure (i'm a freak about making sure everything is tight) 65 mph on the highway, suddenly the back passenger window made a VERY loud noise and the panel blew off onto the highway. Thank GOD no one was right behind me and had an accident, although several cars were swerving to avoid it. This could have been a lot worse. Obviously this is a problem. My dealership offered to replace the panel which is a total joke. I can never feel confident driving on the highway again. Not sure what to do.

We had this happen recently. Fortunately, no damage to the window as it never completely disengaged from the Jeep due to some dumb luck. Seems this is a significant issue. Has anyone heard of Jeep, Bestop or FCA addressing this as an issue that they intend to address?

Did you guys notice if the side windows were bulging out or sucking in before the blowout happened?

Ours generally appear to be sucking in. My wife was driving when ours came loose, so I'm not sure.

Just thinking ....have any of you that had windows blown out also have anything on the inside of the tailgate? Mole bags, fold-down table, etc? I've always wondered how much those would impede the designed airflow out through the air-louvers in the tailgate....Just spit balling ....

Not for mine. Empty cargo area and nothing against the tailgate.

I have a Jeep Backbone and knock on wood, mine haven't blown out yet. Seems like the backbone would create a bigger issue since the airflow in the tub is blocked thus forcing any incoming wind to be concentrated against the 3 back windows. Plus I usually run with the back seats down so no wind block from the seats. I finally picked up two trailer hitch pins and plan to insert them through the 2 window tabs as a preventative step.

It was a complete shock, no noise, no bulging in or out. Just a very sudden loud bang and there she flew. My passenger thought we'd been hit by a car.

I've seen sucking in during sunrider open and bulging out when everything is closed up. I've heard of the side windows blowing out under both conditions.

For the closed up condition, it has to be some unusual event (something like a combination of wind gust and bounce) to cause one of the locking features to come loose. Given the way everything is locked together, it seems like if the front or top interlock of the side window failed, it could catch air, causing the back strut to come loose and pivot out, allowing the side window to fly. This seems unlikely unless the windows are loose and sagging, and/or the top interlock rubber and groove fit is compromised some how.
I have sagging windows, has anybody noticed problems with the upper rubber and groove fit?

I am having same issues...I have a 2018 Rubicon JLU with Premium Soft top and my right passenger side window panel blew off at 80mph yesterday.
Car behind me ran over it...
Dealership telling me they might warranty it but panel on back order.
I hope it can be replaced for free still within factory warranty.
I know I put it on right which is a simple process so no operator error this time.

@JeepCares I can't speak for Hellspawn, but I'm more interested in Jeep responding to this issue with a fix. It's not isolated to a few dummies who don't know how to install the windows. This is a design flaw. Jeep should work with the window manufacturer to make these panels more readily available since everyone runs into a backorder delay when they have this problem.
