Found this video online.

Not sure if there are any down sides to leaving that diverter wide open, but like the guy says in the video no CELs after 20 miles. 🤷‍♂️

As someone who has been modifying turbo vehicles for 10 years IMO this is a bad idea... the computer is expecting that air to be directed back into the intake. Eventually it'll cause issues, probably nothing catastrophic but something.

I don't disagree with you.

The guy only tested it for 20 miles, I mean it might not go into limp mode until 200 miles, or possibly never. More testing needs to be done!

Any volunteers? :giggle:

I'll hit up the guys YouTube channel and maybe see if he has another video he posted an update on this topic, if not I'll probably send him a message see what he says.

I guess this is one of those personal preferences, IMHO to me is sounds like your engine is farting, lol

These engines are complicated enough and have enough issues, if it ain't broke don't fix it! I don't think I would go in for warranty service with the fart master installed, haha

Looks like this video was posted 2 years ago, and then 11 months ago, one year and one month after he posted the video, these questions were asked and answered.

Looks like if you do exactly what he does, it works out just fine!

Also he posted a link in his own comments, looks like he upgraded from the PVC plug to this brass one...

I'm not advocating for this change, but it probably works on the JL without throwing a code because the 2.0T (and V6 for that matter) do not use mass flow metering - they do not have a MAF. The ECU therefore doesn't get upset if air exits the system without it knowing about it.

At times the ECU might have the bypass valve open when there is some vacuum in the intake, so you'll be at risk of drawing unfiltered air (and dirt etc) into the engine. It depends on when the ECU opens the bypass.

sounds like 💩 to me
Hey, if it's worth anything, I have a 3.0T.

I had a fellow jeeper in my community pull up to me at a stop and their engine was super quiet, but the turbo was real loud. It made me start searching videos to see if that was normal, (which it turns out defines the 2.0T) and I ran across this video and saw it's value from a purely auditory aesthetic place and that's why I shared my find.

Other than a small handful of instances, I never hear my 3.0s turbo, but as it turns out, with the 2.0, that's all you hear!

In fact, with a muffler delete the 2.0T sounds soooooo nice!! 😍 :handsinair:

From what i recall on the ecodiesel forums the guys would remove the turbo silencer.

But seeing that video I’m debating a delete for my 2.0 now.

I am on a work computer and can't see or hear the videos. But from looking at the amazon link I think this is something I did to my 3.5L Ecoboost on my Explorer Sport and SHO. The noise was pretty cool and surprised a lot of folks. I drove probably around 15-20k with both of them having this "mod" and I didn't have any issues. I know different engine entirely.

Folks insist on screwing around with complex systems without knowing exactly what they are doing. Recipe for problems..
