Hi guys, I wonder if the sound of my 2.0T at idle has changed and would be glad to compare, so if you could post your 2.0T idling warm it would be great!

While it can be difficult to offer a diagnosis after watching an online phone recording, I don't hear anything untoward in the first video.

At warm idle, the 2.0T in my JLU is one of the quietest engines I've ever owned. Yours sounds similar, which isn't a bad thing.

Was your HVAC system including A/C pump completely off?

In the first video, the engine is still in a high idle from the restart and you've got the normal whoosh/vacuum noise that all 2.0's make for a few seconds. But then as soon as the idle comes down, it sounds like the cooling fans kick on - also normal, but makes it hard to hear other noises. The only thing I took away from the first video was it sounds like you've got some accessory noise, like a tired accessory pulley or the AC compressor is pumping.

In your second set of videos, specifically the first one, there's what sound like lifter noise (rat-tat-tat) just as you're increasing the engine load. That sounds like a lot more than mine makes. Mine sounds like that when it's cold, but not when it's warm. 0:23-0:32 I can really hear it. When the engine is coming down off the revs in your second video in that post, you have turbo rattle, but that's also "normal" for 2.0's.

It's really hard to sort all the noises in these engines. I'd focus on what sounds like the lifter noise and see if you can pinpoint that a little better.

Uhm, nope, my fault! Thanks for your input, I'll definitely keep that in mind, I'll do an engine flush and change the oil and check again!

I've got another video, from the top:

(yes I know my engine bay looks a little bit dirty 😂)
