They make more sense if you're going to do a lot of off-roading they protect the Jeep better than regular Rock sliders from the factory and they don't have that separate step that could get hung up on rocks
I agree, that lower bar will help you glide over stuff if you get close. I prefer a closed top though so my kids or anyone that had to climb in back wouldn't worry about getting stuck. So far, I haven't dragged or wrecked my steps yet, but I wheel Greens only a couple times a year at Rausch and AOAA.

They're expensive, but I'm a fan of the Mopar 82215129AB Performance Rock Rails. They're like stock Rubicon rock rails but wide enough to be used as a step.

I like those too, I've been trying to convince my son to get a set for his JLUR. He's the tallest out of us at 5'7" so he can get in and out without a problem, but watching me (5'2") or my wife (5') climb in it with the 35s is hilarious.

Which style makes more sense? The ā€œGreyā€ or the ā€œRedā€ example?

i am torn, my husband has for his truck the ā€œGreyā€ one and it works great to get in, but when I want to use it to get out, it’s in the wrong spot (at least for me).
Female, 5.7, 24 Willys, daily driver … which I think pretty high ?

What company makes the rock rails for the gray Jeep?

Have had these Barricade Enhanced Rubi Rails rails for over two years now and really love them. The nerfs are just wide enough to use as a step without jutting out too far. And they've held up great in the rocks. They mount exactly like the oem rails and fit perfectly out of the box.

I like how they cover the ā€œholesā€ on the side of the truck. They look great. Haven’t seen them before - serious contender!

My 5'4" wife really likes them - even more so after a 2.5" lift!
Because they're textured, she feels secure using them as a step without fear of her foot slipping off.
