I feel like we're entering the realm of in-roading at this point. That's some uncharted territory right there. Some people prefer serious on-roading

Trust me when I say that makes two of us. You're definitely making the most of retirement. Unfortunately I'm not to that stage yet and I only get so much vacation time per year and it ain't enough to go do things like that.I was hoping that this thread would contain pictures of people seriously off roading. Like these.

Not serious off roading.

Can be serious, we are about 40 miles down the beach.

That's just samples from the first couple years of potential serious off roading. It is nice to look back. This would be from about 2020 to 2022.

I could not do what I do if I was still working. That is why I retired on my first day that I was eligible.Trust me when I say that makes two of us. You're definitely making the most of retirement. And spend your time on these forums giving us younger guys FOMO...I could not do what I do if I was still working. That is why I retired on my first day that I was eligible.
A little like "serious skiing"...I was hoping that this thread would contain pictures of people seriously off roading. Like these.

Is it possible that you have a different definition of objective than the rest of us? Here's what I understand it to be:I disagree with most people here. Serious offroading does have an objective definition. It's just hard to pin point it.
It's subjective, right?expressing or dealing with facts or conditions as perceived without distortion by personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations
Here I am, trying to make every excuse I can to spend a night in my Jeep…I'd rather avoid spending the night in the vehicle
That definition of objective I think fits but you'd need a pretty complex set of parameters to define "serious" off roading. The types of terrain and the trail conditions can change those parameters extensively. Serious could be anything too tough for a high clearance Subaru like the wildtrak, which is measurable and objective? The cvt and traction control really seems to struggle when it gets into off camber situations in the tests I've seen but it does have nearly the ground clearance of a stock wrangler. Deep mud/snow/sand seem to be too much for it as well. Obviously the Bronco/4runner/land cruiser are capable of serious off roading. They have low range transfer cases and are available with sway bar disconnects and at least rear lockers. Extreme rock crawling is a different level. If there's potential to need to winch I'd say it's serious. The problem there is getting everyone to agree on the parameters and definition as otherwise nothing fits the definition of objective as is an personal interpretation? Is it possible that you have a different definition of objective than the rest of us? Here's what I understand it to be:
It's subjective, right?
Nope, i know what objective means, i agree with your provided definition. And i stand by my statement. I believe it to be objective. Doesn't mean it's not also debatable and not widely agreed upon. Also doesn't mean my definition is correct. Is it possible that you have a different definition of objective than the rest of us?
Exactly. It CAN be defined measurably. Getting everyone to agree on it is the unlikely part. That definition of objective I think fits but you'd need a pretty complex set of parameters to define "serious" off roading. The types of terrain and the trail conditions can change those parameters extensively.
