True, but my point remains... they'd be even better were they not hamstrung. It's a trade-off, as cars are obviously far safer today. But history suggests that consumers would have made other choices in the absence of the mandates.That being said, some brands have been quite successful, particularly with cars. I test drove some new Honda's, and it's crazy how good the mpg is even oon the powerful sporty models
Same goes for VW and Ford
The government should decide what it really values... safety or efficiency. Otherwise it starts to look like the whole point is to eliminate ICEs through regulations which become impossible to meet. The VW diesel thing is a perfect example.
