If they are going to fix it, under warranty, why wouldn't you fix it??
Like @Dyolfknip74 said, it won't get better, and will make things worse.

You can cover
hinges but not doors. I guess you could lined the doors but you shouldn’t have to worry about this on a new vehicle.

I checked the hinge this morning after a fire call. There's a .015 gap between the hinge and the door skin. On the hood hinge, there is no gap, even the .005 feeler stock would not fit underneath. The .015 will go into a depth of perhaps 3/8" before it hits something.

JeepViking, I feel the exact same way as you.

This issue of bubbling paint & corrosion under the paint was not unknown to me before ordering my 2022 JL, but I was not aware of the apparent widespread extent of it, nor was I aware of just how quickly it is manifesting itself in many Jeeps. Nor was I aware that there is seemingly no long-term solution to it, even after having the affected hinges and panels repainted. Frankly, it is like having a very depressing sword of Damocles hanging over my head with this new Jeep, which I would like to think I will keep for a very long time. But will this corrosion situation allow any of us to do that, without our Jeeps looking like total shit after just a handful of years?
Yeah, it's definitely not a good feeling. And when you buy a Jeep you hope it doesn't happen to you. It's bad when find yourself looking at Jeeps in public to see how many have the corrosion. Not something we should be worried about on a $50k vehicle.

I have run into a couple of JL owners, in public, and we get to chatting about the pro's and cons to them. One of the saddest things to see, is when I talk about the bubbling in the paint, and they see a few spots on their Jeep, for the first time. It about floors them. I felt like I just kicked their puppy.

It's definitely beyond "forum bias".
In saying that, Ford knew about the Pinto's design flaw and still chose to stay with it because fixing it was more expensive than the few wrongful death settlements. Big money gets away with big things.

I scratch my head when I see used JLs on the lot with the corrosion. If I’m a potential buyer there’s no way I’m buying a used 2-3 year old Jeep with corrosion on the hinges. Especially at todays prices. I guess some people don’t notice or just don’t care.

Has anyone that had this repaired gotten gaskets? It seems the repair photos I’ve seen are merely just resprays with nothing to address the cause of the problem.

From what I remember, of my fixes, they stated they repaired, epoxied, and repainted, under the hinges.

Sitting at the dealership now to have the paint issue addressed.
Immediately met with a “prove it’s there” attitude.

No problem. I’ll show you ALLLLLLL the bad spots.

Pointed out each and every spot on the Jeep that has the bubbling paint, photos were taken and supposed to be submitted.
I was told the body shop is booked through January.
“We’ll call you.”

“If you don’t, you can bet I’ll call you.”

They were aware of the situation, but not very happy to have to be dealing with it.
