Mopar Spare Tire Reinforcement Kit

What is the general consensus?

It’s more of a personal use case call than general consensus. No hinge support so determine your present and possible future weight needs. A cheap one isn’t so cheap if you end up needing a better one. They also aren’t adjustable back to the gate so if you get negative offset wheels they might stick way out causing camera/sensor issues.

the JL hinge is much stronger than the JK hinge was. I think the unless you are really going heavy the mopar HD hinge is great..I have had a 35 on mine (108lbs) and it is fine..I just put a set of 37's on (115lbs) and it feels fine. I needed to add a relocation bracket for the 37 tho.

I'm using the Mopar Heavy Duty Spare Tire Mount Bracket with a Method 106 Beadlock and a Mickey Baja 35 hanging on it and I am not having a problem on my 23 Wrangler Rubi 2 Dr.

I'm running the Mopar Spare Tire Reinforcement as well, with Method 703s + 35" KM3s (appx 96lbs) with no issues for 8 months running. I'm going to 37" KM3s next spring and have no worries the tailgate will be fine as i had the same setup on my 2018 JL with 37" Nittos for a few years.

If I go larger than 37s in the future, I will go to a bumper-mount spare tire carrier though.

I have the hd hinge and am using a Rough country relocation bracket which works but I don't love..with a 35 I did not need the relocation bracket and was 100% satisfied....ran it with both the Mickey thompson 255/85-17 (88lbs) and it was like it was not even there and also the mickey 35x12.5-17 MT on AEV wheel (108lbs) and again like it was not even there but know am running mickey t's in 37x12.5-17 on AEV wheels (115lbs) and needed the relocation bracket and it sits up 2.25 higher and about 1.25" out over the stock carrier without the RC relocation bracket...I am going to look at the OEM mopar relocation bracket as I think that sits a littler tighter and a bit lower than the RC.. this is all with a plastic bumper so without the relocation bracket there is plenty of room for a 35 but not a 37.

any chance I could talk you into a measurement? basically from the backside of the brake light bracket to the bottom of the rear window...like this? I am trying to see how much closer the mopar relocation bracket is than what I have. thanks jeff

To follow up, I installed the swing gate reinforcement. It feels much better now. I was getting rattling with 5 gallons of water attached to the spare tire.

5 gallons of water is almost 45 lbs extra. I have no worries the Mopar reinforcement will be ok for Method 703s and 37s.

I have a 37 Open Country RT Pro with stock Rubi XR wheel on mine. So far it hasn’t fallen off. Yet.
