Damn I would consider a new home away from that place! Stealing my cars that much.
Moving accomplishes nothing, unless you move to a less commie state with better gun laws and DAs that actually prosecute criminals and put them in prison. Not many of those remain these days.

It's a well known fact that thieves often scout upscale/middle class neighborhoods, looking for cars to steal.

Best anti-theft device.

Except they're getting stolen as well. Auto trans are a North American thing. The majority of Europe, for instance, still use a manual transmission. You're not sitting in some holy grail. My buddies 6sp Rubicon was just stolen.

My truck was stolen twice, both from good neighborhoods. Has a manual tranny. First time it was stolen was by a guy who had string of arrests and conviction. Neighboring city let him off on an auto theft charge two days before he stole my truck. Police in Washington State can’t pursue auto thieves, courts let them off anyway. Moving out of state soon.

The underclass is indeed mobile.

We've been in our current house since 2006. It was and remains a generally decent, safe neighborhood (so fill in the blanks here accordingly). However, over the past five years or so, there's been a few incidents of previously unknown vandalism, theft, and most recently a nighttime hit & run. The Ring doorbell camera footage that is shared on our community web forum makes plain who the offenders are. They're not those who live here.

Spare a thought for the folks who did take the advice to "just move", with all of the time, effort and expense that doing so entails, only to discover that the parasites haven't lost interest. Thus threads like this one.

A closed garage is your best deterrent. I wonder if a manual fuel line shut off might be a highly effective solution. A thief would not anticipate such though I’m not sure how readily available such a solution would be for a high pressure fuel line…

Where else are you going to find lots of nice cars and few security guards?

I like the idea, but that's only 16 different combinations to try.

Or really only 14, since the thief can pretty much rule out 0-0-0-0 or 1-1-1-1 being the likely combination.

5 3-position switches would be a better way to go, 243 different combinations would probably be enough to make them not bother trying.
I'd assume these switches weren't labeled? I doubt anyone would assume that's what they were for. Probably more like "this pos Ford not only won't start but these light switches don't do shit either."

For about 3 - 4 years I've been dealing with someone tossing 40oz beer bottles in my yard, and in neighbors yards. In 2019 I got a home PoE cam system and it took up until a few months ago to see the car that was doing it. It was a neighbor 4 houses down the street. I typed up a letter and gave it to all the neighbors that I've seen bottles as I would drive. A few of us went and had a nice chat with them, A couple weeks later we have not noticed any more bottles. But still a shady beoch in our hood doing these things and who knows what else they do, so yea it doesn't matter where you go.

Tossing bottle -
[First]

Getting more out of trunk - (off camera they toss more in my front yard)
[Second]

Reverse driving STUPIDLY to their house -
[Third]

My coworker installed a throttle controller (not pedal commander) and we were talking about just this tonight. The controller has a lock code on it so that the jeep wont drive if the code is not entered by blocking the signal from the peal.
Takes ten seconds to look under and unplug it, though. Same thing with the tazer. An experienced thief is going to see that very quickly.
