Ditto. In fact, in a packed parking lot I can barely discern the horn beeps in the distance. Having a 10 yard range would certainly decrease the benefit of having remote start.i find it pretty amazing; it’s become a standing joke with my coworkers.
i can Remote Start it from so gar away i can’t hear the diesel running.
and once i get home that little screamer goes right into its RF-shielded bag.
I still can't wrap my head around the option of someone driving away in my Wrangler because they don't need a key to start it. In addition to the massive fob, and whatever random other keys I need with me I need a Faraday pouch too? The PITA far outweighs the benefits to keyless start.i find it pretty amazing; it’s become a standing joke with my coworkers.

Sadly, yes.I still can't wrap my head around the option of someone driving away in my Wrangler because they don't need a key to start it.

Sadly, yes.
With the security vulnerabilities in mind, I gift these bags to family and friends every Christmas. To a person, they're impressed by how well the signal is blocked. They can be sitting in their vehicle, with the fob resting on the center console but securely inside the bag, and the vehicle won't recognize the fob at all. The same is true if they attempt to use any related proximity features with the fob equally hidden.
I don't know who thought the world was crying out for keyless starting and all of the electronic gremlins that may or do accompany that tech, but whoever it was deserves a punch in the nose. We're stuck with it now, and so we have to deal.

The husband who knows his wife keeps her vehicle's fob inside her purse at all times could have some fun with a Faraday bag. Place the fob inside the bag, place the bag back in the purse, and watch as the Missus wonders why her vehicle won't lock, unlock or start as it's always done. Don't ask me how I know this will work.![]()

Explain pleaseI still can't wrap my head around the option of someone driving away in my Wrangler because they don't need a key to start it
I mean that because the range of the fob I could be in a store, or church, or in a friends' house and pushing the start button will cause the vehicle to start. I 100% of the time activate my aftermarket alarm but a crashed vehicle 2 blocks fro where I parked it is still a PITA.Explain please
Skip?I’m continually surprised that my key fob operates from 100 yards. Most vehicles are lucky to get 10 yards.
I'm confused...I mean that because the range of the fob I could be in a store, or church, or in a friends' house and pushing the start button will cause the vehicle to start. I 100% of the time activate my aftermarket alarm but a crashed vehicle 2 blocks fro where I parked it is still a PITA.
Agreed. I read @Bills2ndJeep response several times and couldn't figure out what he was trying to convey. I figured there must have been some backstory that I missed.I'm confused...
Remote starting your vehicle from any distance close/far shouldn't be an issue.
(Unless I have misunderstood and this isn't what you mean)
That I am aware... if you remote start your vehicle, even 100yrds away, your door should be locked and if they did get in and tried to push start your vehicle... it's going to say "fob not found" or similar... they will not be able to fully start the vehicle and drive away... even if remotely started.
