So basically all the aluminum weight savings, the raked windshield, ESS, KO2’s instead of MTs, and the JL Rubicon gets the same gas mileage as the Jk Rubicon.
Technically, it gets about 2 MPG better. 17/21 for JK and 18/23 for JL. 2 MPG isn't really large enough to see any consistent improvement, MPG depends on too many variables like traffic, speed, avg slope angle you drive on, net weight, how foot heavy someone is, etc.

20 mpg-plus is probably a pipe dream in a Rubicon.

I'm averaging 21 mpg in my JLU Sport in mixed driving - all-season street tires, 6-speed manual, 3.41 axle - but I have less than 200 miles on the odometer. That's still an improvement over the previous Jeeps I've owned: two-door manual with straight six, 3.8L unlimited manual, and 3.6L JK two-door with both manual and 5-speed auto.

Mostly slow city driving, getting 14.2 MPG.

Did a 3 hour free way drive and upped it to 16.3 mpg

It is the stop and go city traffic that makes it impossible to improve.
Not my case. Speed is the killer for me. I get 19 mpg city 17 mpg hwy. I-80 in Illinois and Iowa if you drive under 75 semis start blowing their horns and you create a jam. :whew: Waiting for someone to come with a SC. Who cares mpg. :giggle:

I have been conscious to drive the speed limit, and reduce my sudden acceleration whenever possible, so the only other factor is that is left is the stop and go morning and evening commutes are the my problem ;). The fact that it is a rubicon adds to the poor mileage. But please do not take my comments as complaining. I knew what I was getting into when I bought it. I have no regrets :).

I spend a minimum of 30 minutes each way every day in a 6 mile backup to go through a tunnel, moving at an average speed of about 10 MPH. Still not suffering. My mileage went up when I put on 35"s, which doesn't make sense to me.

You've got the right Mojo. I am happy for you. I will keep experimenting.

I'm sitting at 14.9 with 150 miles on odometer. It's crazy how finnicky the gas pedal is. I can get over 15 pretty easily if I basically coast but the second I put any pressure on the pedal that fuel efficiency gauge plummets to below 15. Kinda scared of my 37s arriving now. I didn't buy this at all for mpg but ... damn, wouldn't mind having to pull over and stop less on a trip. If the Diesel coming out has a much bigger gas tank (my Colorado diesel had 32 gallon I believe) I might be tempted to move over to that.

Full stock JLUR (steel bumpers, etc).

Also been sick as a dog since the Jeep came thus the low miles.. 2 weeks now :(

edit: 99% city driving

I don't have a rubi but a sahara with 33 K02s and I am consistently averaging between 20.1-21.3mpg and getting at least 420 miles per tank

I have 850 miles on mine and averaging 19.1mpg, with 35" Duratracs. The first 500 miles or so I was averaging in the 16s, with both the stock 33s and my 35s. Thankfully it has been steadily getting better. I get mid to upper 30s mpg when driving flat ground 30-40mph, dropping the faster I go, reaching the teens once I get above 60mph or so.

16.2 in mixed driving for my JLUR. I have about 900 miles on it.

Mileage is the same as I was getting in my last 3 jkurs with either 4.10’s or 3.73’s.

The 8 speed makes it a whole lot more fun to burn gas!
