Does any one know if it's ok to travel with your hi lift jack up a few positions so as not to hit your taillight when opening the door?

There's no problem running it like that, so long as a low hanging branch doesn't catch the handle on the trail.

I don't see any reason this would cause any problems as long as you have latch locked but it may rattle some.

Around town it is fine if you wanna carry the thing around with you. But I wouldn't carry anything like that on a trail, unless it is an open and wide trail. Depends on the kind of off-roading you do.
