Is my car totaled?

I hit a barrier that was splitting a single road. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I was probably going about 15 mph. The driver side wheel and front bumper took the brunt of the force. Some debris punctured the oil filter the control arm is bent and the airbags went off and the spring popped out.

I know the damage is significant but I don’t think it’s enough to total the car. The adjuster wants to total because the frame and axle could possibly be bent because of the tire position. I think that’s more from the mangled control arm. I want to try appealing for a second opinion but not sure if it’s worth it.

Don’t take much to total a Jeep nowadays…if in doubt assume yes.

You pretty much want it totaled if the frame is bent. The alternative is to replace the frame (they apparently don't straighten them anymore).

Yeah, no, that’s a write-off. No way the frame didn’t get bent with that kind of damage. You’ll 100% regret not letting them total it. Take the money and run…

Air bags out alone are worth totaling it….never mind everything else damaged. Salvage what you can for the next new one.

Are you at fault? Not finger pointing. Just trying to figure out why you are opposed to it being totaled? What would the adjuster’s motivation be to say it was totaled if it isn’t?

Yeah it couldn’t have been much faster because it was in the city but it was a fairly solid barrier.
