I was supposed to start a build thread once home but indeed this is a very sad post instead.

I had just finished prepping the jeep for this long weekend from Vancouver to Oregon with a winch, radios vhf and cb, 2" lift and brand new 285-75/17 tires.
It looks amazing in that configuration the lift raised the center to the perfect height and the tires look nice and proportional.

Unfortunately, after a long day started too late, driving for maybe too long, I feel asleep 5 mins away from the campground we were stopping at for the night.
The jeep climbed a side slanted earth wall and got catapulted in the middle of the highway rolling on the side.
Thankfully, no cars were coming in either direction.

I only had my dog with me and we both are unharmed. I don't have a scratch just a bruise from the airbag, my dog a bruise on his paw.

I woke up with the car sliding on the asphalt on its side with sparks around my head and the dog rolling in the cabin. I was able to hold the dog into me until the jeep stopped, in the side.

My friend in his ram was behind me and he jumped on the jeep to open the door and let my dog out. I got out by myself incredibly without any scratch.

Then we winched down the jeep that was still on the side and called for help.

This jeep must be an incredibly solid vehicle because I was going at about 50 mph or less and it still held its shape.

Be careful when driving at night and tired. I delayed stopping a couple of times and I am paying for it now. Thank God I can tell you this.

Insurance should cover the costs and hopefully I can get another jl soon. After this I want another one even more.

Saddened to see this but happy you’re here to post about it. A JL can be replaced, you and the dog can’t....glad no one else was involved. Keep your head up Knower!

Good to hear that you and your dog were unhurt! It could have turned out much worse. I appreciate your cautionary words.

Please don't drive tired, getting to your destination is not worth your life or the lives of others.

Glad you’re alright neighbor!! I just drove from Idaho back to Oregon yesterday with my new JLUR and got home at midnight last night. Like you said, it could’ve been way worse and at least you and your dog are ok.

Glad to hear you and your dog are ok. I remember reading a study once that found that driving without x amount of hours of sleep was 3x more dangerous than driving drunk above the limit. Unfortunately, it is too common a practice (myself included) that we resort too.

Thanks for sharing - fortunately, the only thing lost was the only thing that can be replaced. Hope your replacement comes soon!

When I was younger I've driven too far tired...it certainly is dangerous to yourself and others.

Super glad this one has a good ending and you are ok! Watch yourself the next few days in case anything comes up, but sounds like no hard impacts would have caused any internal damage to your body.

knower, it's great to read that you and your pet are ok, hopefully with no medical effects later. It seems that you both were well protected in your Rubicon JLU, that is really good to know. Hope
that you get everything squared away with the insurance company and get another Rubicon ASAP!
