i guess if you’re calling everyone out for every political comment and not focusing on those who disagree with you. But that doesn’t seem to be how it goes. Including front loading things with I know this is going to make group X upset because they’re not as superior or righteous or open minded or blah blah blah as I am.
I know this is going to make our science deniers upset, but it's hilarious that they respond on computerized devices that are the direct result of science.

Shit, now I need to figure out how to make them feel even more inferior, less righteous, and closed minded. Damn, you're asking for a lot!

We only understand what we understand and settled science has been disproven over and over. Believing settled science as gospel is as much religious faith as any other. Does quantum relativity exist? Science can so far not prove or disprove it anymore than it can Heaven.

There’s truth to that. We want to arrive at a conclusion so we can move on or feel more in control or smarter or whatever it is about being human. So we arrive at the best scientific theory to explain things. But as you said, many things that were believed to be ”fact” even by the majority of scientists have been proven to be incorrect. But that was those dumber people like Albert Einstein and we are smarter now, so today’s science is fact and can safely be relied on as infallible.

If you actually understand science, you know there is no such thing as "settled science". It's always the best explanation we have given what we know now, subject to future revision when we learn more.

The key is we keep improving our knowledge over time.

There may be hiccups along the way, but the process of science weeds out the B.S. eventually.

Science is a journey. Not a destination.

But that, unfortunately, is not how it's treated in the public zeitgeist. 🤷‍♂️

Science has no 100% knowns, it has "as we best understand it at this time" and being able to accept that understanding of the world around us changes is part of the whole deal. Then knowing this being able to change with it is very important and not looking at it as "Well you said before ....." is counter productive.

Depends on what they used the "before" to justify. When current science is being used to justify things that later turn out to be bad, it's an issue, and one I feel deserves a "I fuckin told you so"

Like anything else you have your extremes there. Both ends of the "Well they say this now its law" and "They said it was this way now they say something else so science is bullshit" people. Gotta be able to weed through them both

You just sad what I said, just not as it relates to religion, which was part of my homie Ratbert's comment.

There's a great many examples of bad science leading to bad decisions despite correct objections, and that is an example of bad science
