Having Savegre IIs installed next week. I wanted a wheel that was low-key but still somewhat visually interesting. Can’t beat AEV quality, and the Savegre II is model-specific to the JL.

Only problems with AEV wheels is their backspacing is not compatible with any of the upgraded steering systems on the market, as well as a few of the lifts out there.

True, but not a problem for my purposes.
Yep and maybe not for his either but it is tough to find on their site and they do not disclose that it may not work with other products at all.

And if he is looking for wheels and possibly wanting to upgrade something later it will be a 2nd wheel purchase or some large spacers.

Totally fair. People should know what they’re getting into.

different variables YOU much decide on:
-price
-style
-weight
-offset
-hubcentric or not (many overlook this)
-width
-diameter
-beadlock or normal wheels (if youre asking than beadlock isnt in the cards for now lol)

4.5" backspacing is the common recommended backspacing for lifted jeeps to keep the tires away from suspension while flexing. that's -12mm for 9" wheels.

lighter is better. my wheels weigh about 22lbs. many wheels are in the 30s. and then people complain about having 100lb wheel/tire set ups lol.

hubcentric is better.

i ran Rocktrix for a little while. they are great wheels at a fantastic price. they are high quality and lightweight, hub centric etc.... the only thing i did not like about them is their valve stem placement. they poke outwards on an angle. if you like to play in the rocks, its possible you can catch one and break it on the trail (valve stem). Lord knows our jeeps have long tpms stems. if they can fix that one thing, they'd be 9/10 wheels imo. to be 10/10 they'd need to use oem lug nuts but that's much less important.

if you're not the type to grind your wheel on a rock, then you'll have no issues. even still, its a big maybe... not an absolute that it will happen.

they also were extremely well packaged and shipped/arrived quickly. i was impressed, especially for the price. (ive dealt with many wheels/brands). just because they sell them on Amazon, dont let that discourage you. they are really good, quality wheels.

Whatever you do, make sure you render the Jeep useless for real-world use. Buying the most garish, obnoxious wheel possible is the goal. Bonus points if it’s impossible to climb in when you’re done.

I'm keeping the tires, only replacing the wheels. Would never go above 17 anyways. I think I'm going to get RockTrix, because they all look great, great reviews and of course the price. Can anyone confirm if they are hubcentric?
Wheels on Jeeps that are going to visit off road, are gonna get beat up. And once beat up, those are a constant display that your Jeep does battle off road. Knowing that, I went the least expensive route. I went with RockTrix wheels. They're affordable, not ugly, and come in the most popular colors most folks want. Thus far we've had these wheels off road and on beach, and they went down to 11PSI without issue. And, as I mentioned, ours, only a couple of months old, display war wounds. But that JLU wears 'em proudly! Best of luck on your decision, and your upgrade...
Another Rocktrix fan. I chose bronze because I can't see shadows on black and I couldn't make out the wheel design with black wheels.

I like wheels made specifically for the Jeep like OEM or the AEV's that I went with. When you buy typical aftermarket wheels, they are designed to universally fit all lug patterns whether it be 5 or 6 lug etc. They just drill the pattern for whatever pattern needed. However, wheels made specifically for the Jeep are cast as 5 lug Jeep wheels with the casting pattern encompassing the log holes. This makes for a much stronger design and looks correct with spokes matching lug pattern. Also, they will have the correct backspacing / offset to best match the Jeep. You have a lot less to choose from, but the quality will be much better.

These actually are one of my all time favs. Ide get them in a second if they weren’t so expensive. I’m looking to spend max $1k. If that works for you let me know and I’ll pick them up in 1.5 hours.
