Those wheels are pretty, very pretty. I’m failing to see how they are easy to clean though with that multi spoke design.

I paid 300 bucks for all five of my wheels because they were discontinued. And they happen to be really easy to clean. With a machined lip, when you scratch them up there’s no paint necessary, you’re just machining them more 😂 Oh, and they’re also not black because those were cool 15 years ago.

They are smooth, my stock wheels were more difficult , angles, all the sideways surfaces, crevices.

I liked how they looked … didn’t like cleaning them, or dealing with the trim rings, the 7.5” width, 44.45mm offset was a little excessive, and especially the 31 lbs. But I kept them 🤷🏼‍♂️
Not delighted with them fading from bronze to gray in just 3 years either. 🤨

There’s a trillion options. It’s so overwhelming. I always knew I wanted black. But for some reason bronze always tugged at my heartstrings. My wife did not want bronze but now that she’s warming up to it, I’m chickening out to go for the sure thing of black. And that’s just the COLOR!! It’s so overwhelming I might just keep what I have and wait to see if there’s any good Black Friday deals. Below is a pic of my Jeep and the wheels that came with it. It’s so gaudy I’m sometimes embarrassed. I just want something I like, but I like them all that I can’t decide! Sorry for the rant, it’s just so much.

After looking at many, I decided on the black Method 703's.

Icons are a thing because a national chain is willing to install tires on them unlike traditional beadlocks which require a day in your garage or finding a local installer.
And why are national chains not doing beadlocks? Legality. Exactly what this prior conversation was about

When tires are mounted bead locked, they are not street legal. Plus there is the time and complication of mounting the rings and getting everything just right. I doubt you'd find a chain shop with anyone trained to do it.

On wheels that have bead lock capability, they can be mounted conventionally, and tire shops don't have a problem doing that.

Its about liability. When they fail, they fail quickly and that can have a disastrous effect at highway speeds. When they do fail it is usually dua to faulty installation or lack of maintenance.

If it were simply about legality, they would allow me to bring in a set of beadlocks for a vehicle that is used off road only.

Whatever you do, look for hubcentric wheels which are designed to fit better than lug centric wheels, which are universal fit, relying on the lug nuts to center the wheel and bear all of the weight.
Sorry, nitpicky pedantry incoming: once torqued down neither the hub nor the lugs are bearing any weight. The friction between the wheel and the brake rotor induced by the massive clamping force applied by the lugnuts bears all the weight. Hub centric should help prevent off-center mounting, though.

I understand your explanation, and I agree. But the rotors are themselves hubcentric too. So, all of this keeps the rolling assembly as close to true as is practical, while still allowing easy serviceability of the wheels and brakes. And yes, once all bolted together, it is ultimately the wheel bearings that bear the weight.

Unfortunately some have a problem, DT insisted on removing the trim rings. Jeep should supply in writing for us to show them it isn’t required. They didn’t charge extra but some have reported an extra charge, one very high IIRC.

I started with a reason for new wheels.

I was rubbing at full stuff while off roading with 315/70-17s that, according to the consensus, don't rub.

So I needed a wider wheel. I also thought about my next setbof tires. I'm planning on going full 35x12.5-17. So a wider wheel with a wider stance was needed.

After I knew all of that I use online comparison tools of wheel sizes and determined I wanted a 17x9 -12mm and that narrowed my choices.

From there I went for a quality brand that has been tail tested, and could be resold if I didn't like them.

That had my down to kmc or method. After vetting my choices past the family. I chose the tried and true black wheel from kmc.

So far I've been very pleased!

I was the same way. I’m stupid indecisive. I’ve had solid black in the past and they tend to get lost (the design) when you back away from the vehicle. But push come to shove it’s your vehicle. You need to get what you like. No one else’s opinion matters. It’s a reflection of your style. Not your buddies.

One thing about wheels, nobody else really cares what wheels you have. It's all to satisfy you.
Hey not true lol. At the last car show we were at some people came up to me and said they really appreciated my wheel choice and how it's got a more classic and rugged combo look vs a lot of the wheels people are putting on their jeeps. It's MOSTLY to satisfy yourself though. Visually my wheels wouldn't be my first choice but it was the best look I could find that fit my qualifications.
