Does not interfere with seeing traffic behind me. I can see the racks for sure, but I wouldn't say they interfere.

Now with the Rotopax mounted, then yes, there is a little interference.
I’m thinking of going that route for my shovel and axe.

Does that Trailrax system scratch up the mounting points on a painted hard top?

I don’t have a painted hardtop, but I would say yes, it is likely you would scratch it. You could add some padding/weatherstripping like many of us did, but that also makes lining everything up a little more challenging (the padding reduces the clearances). But I would guess that anything you attach to the painted hardtop would scratch it.

Didn't arrive yet, but a ratchet strap mount for 2 rotopax. So an extra 5 gallons. 125 extra miles on road, and I'm guessing extra 60 to 80 miles offroad.
Will only be attached for trips.

I've got a two-door JL whos being modded for Overlanding and I need some extra fuel. The most common way I've seen is something off the spare tire but with the backup camera, it gets complicated. Please share your opinions, mods, or different solutions. Pictures of your mods are more than welcome.
For a while there I was running a custom 5 l Jerry can mount on my front driver side fender, but I've since removed it just because.

I'm now running one of these:

Even full of diesel fuel it's pretty lightweight. It's surprisingly high quality given that it's so inexpensive.

Shoot, I should buy a couple more for my other doors. It's dropped in price quite a bit from when I purchased it.

Just make sure that you purchase a compatible fuel tank and lock. Not that the lock is going to protect it too much, but it is really secure. I personally would have trouble getting it off without the key.

Honestly it doesn't vibrate the door at all and because it's only like 1.5 gallons or something, it doesn't weigh enough to actively affect the door where it makes it harder to close or even slam harder. You could probably run four of these, one on each door and be just fine. You could probably also get a 10L tank and you'd probably be able to do okay with that. That you might want to test it on just one door to begin with.

Here's a good photo of it with my granddaughter in the suicide seat.

After quite a bit of research and talking with other people in clubs around me, I have opted to go with the LOD Tire carrier bumper. This mod allows me to carry fuel in the back next to to the spares.

It also allows me to take the weight of the spare off the rear door and hopefully remove the vibrations/noise of the spare rattling around. I have the Mopar hinge reinforcement and it still makes noises back there.

It's not the cheapest option, but it should do exactly what I need and more for the future.

Don’t actually carry gas in the jerry can; just part of my Jeep’s “1941” uniform.

This past summer I added another jerry can to the passenger side, how you would sometimes see them on WW2 Jeeps. Again purely for show, I don’t carry gas in these cans.

Holy fuck that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
Lets maximize what could be a minor t-bone accident by having a gas can burst and burn.

Holy crap, you actually drive it with her in that seat??? I'm guessing you've never been in a significant accident.

No it was just for the photo.

I let her ride in the front seat with the killer airbag! :CWL:

The suicide seat is really just at this moment for looks. Sometimes late at night if I'm driving in dark areas, I'll use it to block the purple LED lights I have in the cargo area, but beyond that it doesn't get used for anything.

Though I will occasionally sit in it when I'm having lunch on my off days. It's surprisingly roomy back there.

For a while there I was going to put a seat belt on it, but just never got around to it, and next spring I'm going to be removing it entirely and will probably turn it into a shop chair at a later date.

To date, no one's ever sat in it when the vehicle was moving. ?

But I've thoroughly enjoyed having it back there. ??
