225F is no big deal or concerning at all, but I personally do add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter into all my vehicle cooling systems and it helps drop temps a bit and keep them more stable.
That would be fine if it never got over that, but mine would continue to climb as long as there was a load on the engine.

Suit yourself. I hope you have a good comfortable rocking chair, old timer.
Why do you have to get personal?
@Willys41 is offering a solution that actually works quite well. I've been running an RPM fan controller for almost a year now, and my temps almost never rise above 200°.
If you're happy with high temps that may or may not lead to other problems, then fine.
No need to berate another member for offering an alternative.

That engine coolant temp, is very much in the normal range. Many in the mountains, report seeing as high as 240°.
Me.

Until I went to a 2024 3.6 non etorque.

With my 23, brand new unloded 2dr, at 70 degrees air temp I would see 238 going up hills AC off.
With my 24 4 dr loaded, 3.6 no torque, 80 degrees, I'm seeing 215-220. On 35's, 23 was stock tire size.

Rpm in either 3.6 increase oil temp, over 3000rpm, oil tempo climbs to 220's. Normal.

Not in any other vehicle I have had--AND I would go so far as to say the high coolant and oil temperatures in combination with an all-aluminum design and 11:1 compression is what is contributing to the run of cracked heads and/or blocks of late. Mine bit it at 50K and continued to worsen until I dumped it.

What happens when it goes into limp mode for high temps? Does it come out when it cools down?

Today it was 75 when we came back up the mountain and I held it to 2500-3000 RPM which means 2nd gear and some in 3rd. 233 when I parked

That would be normal put doesn't mean its accessible.
Now try doing that on a 100 degree day.
Its my opinion that temps like this oil and coolant that have been leading to some of the engine problems.
For example.
The Maserati 3.0 v6 basically the same as the 3.6 runs at 195-200 coolant temps and uses 5w40 oil.

On vacation in Gatlinburg. Our place is up Ski Mountain Drive near Ober Mountain for those aware with the area. Probably like a 1,000 foot climb up from Gatlinburg. Checked temps when we got up to the condo last night and both coolant and oil were about 225F last night. Ran it in auto but not sure what gear it was, running about 2,000-2,500 RPMs coming up. I know I was not at a critical temp or anything, just curious how to keep the temps lower or should I just roll with it.

Will downshifting and running the RPMs higher help with cooling the 3.6?
If you need to McGiver something while on a trip, find an autoparts store and get a windshield washer pump and a long length of hose, get some mister spray nozzles and put a couple in front of the radiator. Get a bucket with a lid, wire the pump to a cigarette lighter plug, insert the plug with you need added cooling.

Try turning your A/C on to get the coolant temps down.

Iirc, the A/C compressor running also helps with cooling the engine in the JL. On very hot summer days if I leave mine off, coolant temps will start climbing to over 225°F and if I leave the A/C on (or on auto) the temps will usually stay below 200°F.

Not sure if this is specific to all JL models, or just the 3.6L, but I recall @mwilk012 explaining this here a few times.

The Tazer has a cooldown feature that works while running. You can turn the fan on high with the steering wheel buttons……it’s on page 12 here…..

Being just one month into owning a modern Jeep JL myself I looked on the net for an answer as I was curious. I found in general modern autos run between 195 and 225. One website I looked at for specs on a Jeep JL revealed 200-230 is optimal and some run at 240.

You are running a little warm for this simple physics standpoint. The air is less dense and vehicles tend to increase in temps as they get higher in altitude. The reason is air is less dense and thus its ability to remove heat is decreased.

If you continue to see high temps on you trips. It might be wise to flush the antifreeze once a year. Not because the antifreeze loses its ability to remove heat, but its lubrication breaks down. That could lead to sooner than normal water pump failures. I go by the rule fluid changes are a whole lot cheaper to maintain than changing physical parts or replacing engines as a whole.

Good luck and thansk for bringing this up
