Do the carpets really keep noise and/or temps down?

I never understood why they put carpeting in the Jeeps in the first place... it's a freakin Jeep!!!
My 2020 Ram has the rubber floor because, you know.... it's a freakin truck !!!
Cars started with rubber floors, then someone made carpeted mats to put over that, then they went to carpeted floors, then someone made rubber mats to go on top of the carpeting that replaced the rubber.......
The next evolution should bring us back to the rubber floors, like in my Ram and that will work great in Jeeps too.
I would opine it is because (more today than ever):

1. Most Jeeps are used as a Jeep about 5% of the time and most people do not want to endure the things that make a Jeep fantastic off-road while driving on-road the other 95% of the time.

2. Modern vehicles generate more heat than ever before due to the emissions systems and carpeting helps insulate the cabin from that heat.

3. Modern vehicles have more voice communication and entertainment that occurs and carpeting helps deaden road noise and the like.

Good points,
I'd still prefer non carpet with the doors and tops off
But then again, I'd be all for a bench seat in he front too
It's all Good ?
