Toyota's crawl control is so old, it is crazy that the EV off-roaders are failing to come up with something similar. Rivian and Cybertruck are pretty lame off-road as far as I've seen

Toyota's Crow control is so loud it feels like the truck is falling apart, but that's normal 😄 I hope they got rid of that noise with the new trucks

Wish I could find the old, I think TFL video where they took a tacoma and a ranger up a trail, both of them had rear lockers but they decided not to use them and the ranger dominated the taco. It was an FX4 vs a TRD. The lockers on both made them equal but with lockers off the Ford did considerably better. Also Ford's offroad speed control worked better as well, more controlled than Toyota's at 5mph and less and was more consistent keeping the set speed. Ford has had their own "BLD" system for a long time and it's pretty damn good. They used it on their SUVs (explorer/expedition specifically) back in the mid 2000s when people still thought about taking them offroad to do things.

Those old Explorers were so boxy and cool. Ranger and Hilux have tough competition in the rest of the world, it's only here in North America where Tacoma dominates. But I like the Gladiator the most, it is the coolest mid-sized pickup, Power Wagon is the coolest full size pickup. Tacoma outsells Ranger and Gladiator combined 5 to 1, and that is insane.

Toyota is so damn good in selling, they sold half a million RAV4s. Now watch when they turn that RAV4 into a little hybrid pickup, the Maverick will be in deep trouble. That little RAV4 pickup will be hybrid and will take 0w8 oil and give you 40 MPG, who can compete against that

I want to wheel the old school way, open diffs or lockers but BLD interferes. It is too quick and doesn't let me get stuck, it pounces on spinning wheels. Is it possible to disable it?
You can just disconnect an ABS sensor on the rear and it should fully deactivate BLD. It requires reading wheel spin to actually function. It's easy to crawl under and unplug one then plug it back in once off the trail. Maybe put a rubber cap on the connector end if you plan on getting it wet.
