Push the button at every start up. It will turn off.

You can either push the button or you can use a JL taser mini or start stop eliminator so you don't have to push the button. You don't have an AUX battery to worry about.

Is it advised to disable the start/stop function?

The button is there so I'm sure it's okay to turn off. I turn it off in my Pacifica. Not on the Wrangler I think it is so smooth with e-torque.

That’s totally up to you. I’m fine with it so I leave it on. Many others are annoyed by it so they turn it permanently off via Tazer or dongle.

I found the E-Torque start stop to be very seamless on our old 3.6 Willys.

I thought it would be an irritant but the operation was very smooth and it didn't bother me.

Our 2.0T stop/start is a different story.

As others have stated, simply press the the botton on the dash to shut it off.

If you regularly do that during your start up process, you won't be bothered by it. Press start and then press the override button and you're all set.

The E-Torque version is a much more tolerable feature of stop/start IMO.

I'm thinking from a long term reliability perspective. The stopping and starting of the engine could cause more wear then just to have it keep running.

Some say it does, other say it was engineer to support start stop and this does not influence much the life of the engines. Ya so let talk oil now since we are down that alleys ;)

stop start hurts your battery life significantly. if you use it routinely except no more than 2 years out of your batteries at most. if you have a dealer replace them out of pocket the price is frequently $800-$1000 depending on labor rate.

i'd suggest never using stop/start unless you have e-torque
