Tazer...what you're looking for plus so much more (even though their instructions are terrible - like a kindergartner wrote them in 1985).

Curious.... Please tell me why ..... Why would you knowingly / with forethought, go with a knock off and not buy the First to market SmartStopStart offering at the same price ($100) from a fellow JL owner, a USA guy... a forum sponsor.

Thanks @SmartStopStart.com / Steve, for being a long time forum sponsor and for a terrific product offering!

Makes absolutely no sense to me...

...AND.... I know when I finally no longer have my JL that I will easily easily be able to sell the SmartStopStart I used for years for about $50-60.

So, why not buy the SmartStopStart .. Daaaaaaaaaah!
An offering that is known to never hiccup. An offering that does not require you to pry open things. An offering that is about 8 in in length/very small footprint..

How is it a knock off? A knock off of what? The wheel was not developed originally for the JL but it has adapted nicely. It is made & developed in the US--since 2018--first for the F-150 & now for virtually every make & model on the market. I have used them flawlessly for YEARS on multiple vehicles without a hiccup. If you want to tout the other product because a forum sponsor & will MATCH the competing price because of it so be it but quit with the false bashing of the other product.

I’m looking to disable this and have done some research on the options. The two devices I have found are the Tazer products and the smart Start Stop Device. Are there any other options? I read JScan won’t do it.
The most reliable & economical method is right after you press the button to start the engine reach to the right and press the button on the dash to shut off the feature. No cost, no dice roll with the electronics, just works.

Another satisfied SmartStopStart user here. Steve responded to my message right away with a discount and the installation was very easy. Great support from and for another forum member.

Hm I really fo not understand why you want permanently disable it. It must meet so many condition to work that most of the time its "not ready". Im not buckled up, or its too cold, or engine is too cold.... it literally started working only after I finaly repair the aux battery and as I said it is read 10% of my rides and then its satisfying to turn it off. And then it satisying also fact that car is able to meet any conditions to work ess. Plus I do not need to prepare the car for dealer. And via Jscan I turn off the anoing sound that Im not buckled up.

Thanks guys. The smart start stop unit is my first consideration mainly because I don't anticipate ever needing the capability of the Taser.

Just wanted to make sure there weren't other options that I should be considering.
A couple of sellers on Amazon have that (autostartstop) for $30's-$50's right now. I've been wanting to get one but there's been a lot of talk about it not always working on 2022 Wranglers and Glads.

@billjr

The one and only, first to market, SmartStopStart unit for the JL/JT from Forum Sponsor @SmartStopStart.com... Is not selling on Amazon!

Yes, there are Chinese knockoffs, etc. of it .... but not the original SmartStopStart unit.

YES, the SmartStopStart works on all model year JL's and JT's and it never hiccups.

Forum Message Steve @SmartStopStart.com and ask him to sell you his offering for $100. You will use it and when you sell your JL and no longer need it you will easily be able to sell it for $50-60.

Is that the one that needs access to up above to the left of the steering column rather then right behind the AC panel?

No prying of black plastics with a pry tool, etc...

Here is a video that shows the install of the original SmartStopStart unit for the JL/JT..

OK, that's the one I thought you were talking about. I was reffering to the one that just requires the removal of the AC panel which for some is much easier to get to.

So you think prying off the "AC panel " ... prying with a pry tool and risking damage to visual plastics ...and not to mention possible retainer clip damage is a better way to go... not...!

....And.. remember that when you go to the dealership you need to remove the unit.

Anyway most guys/gals will tell you installing the SmartStopStart unit along with a security gateway extension cable is a better way to go... easy to install/remove and or put the unit back in place. A 5 min. deed.

Oh I'm not disputing that at all, I'm just saying at least for me I could never get my hands up there to remove and plug in those two cables. As of now I've been lucky I guess and never had a problem removing panels but I know I'd never be able to do it this way. Hell I have a problem just looking up at those 2 connectors. Who knows maybe that's why the one I mentioned has some problems reported with the 2022 model years although that would't make any sense.

Unless your intention was to be "humorous", this is (FOR ME) simply a BS advise, as I do not know anyone who can meticulously remember and press that button EVERY time they start their car...

There is always a distraction around, sometimes it is a coffee in your hand, sometimes kids at the back, grocery bags, partner getting in the car, pedestrian around your car... etc. etc. PLUS, why would someone needlessly do this action thousands of times for the lifetime of their Jeep?

Just because this can be done and in fact it was designed exactly that way to function, there is absolutely no reason to advertise it as a "solution"....
