Unless your intention was to be "humorous", this is (FOR ME) simply a BS advise, as I do not know anyone who can meticulously remember and press that button EVERY time they start their car...

There is always a distraction around, sometimes it is a coffee in your hand, sometimes kids at the back, grocery bags, partner getting in the car, pedestrian around your car... etc. etc. PLUS, why would someone needlessly do this action thousands of times for the lifetime of their Jeep?

Just because this can be done and in fact it was designed exactly that way to function, there is absolutely no reason to advertise it as a "solution"....
Works for me every time. We have five '21 Gladiators in Jeep Tour service. I trained our tour guides to do this so we can prevent burning up the starters and placing unnecessary loads on the batteries. It works.

Often the best solutions are the simplest.

@Nash_Dj Agreed. There’s just some members on here that don’t like having choices they don’t agree with.

In my case I operate several different vehicles throughout the week. My Jeep is the only one with the ASS button. I’m not going to remember to hit it every time so I dropped a hundred on Smart Stop Start device. If someone else thinks I’m lazy or spending money recklessly I don’t give a shit 😉👊🏼🍻

So you simply accept whatever you trained your employees to do is automatically and absolutely every time done that way?
Good for you...

Just curious what data you have that ESS burns up starters.......its been around on Jeeps since 2015......and I haven't heard of mass starter failures.........nor have I heard of mass battery failures on ESS equipped jeeps that don't use the ESS batteries.

New JL owner here, is disconnecting the "hood sensor plunger" under the hood not recommended?

It works, but you will have the warning light on your instrument panel always on, and this is annoying for many people... If you can tolerate it, it is OK. The better way is any third party device - I use Tazer as it can change/adjust a ton of other settings, too...

The most reliable & economical method is right after you press the button to start the engine reach to the right and press the button on the dash to shut off the feature. No cost, no dice roll with the electronics, just works.
Dice roll? A little dramatic maybe.
Yeah, I'm sure you remember to push the button every time.... like the rest of us, at the first stop light when the V6 shudders to a stop and the A/C blows warm. ;)

I’m looking to disable this and have done some research on the options. The two devices I have found are the Tazer products and the smart Start Stop Device. Are there any other options? I read JScan won’t do it.
Pull the fuse (I think it is #42) and disconnect battery cables to the AUX battery. No more ESS and no codes.

Here we go again, just merely a month since we debated here and debunked this topic...

WHY people continue to provide advices that are not true, or half truth???

What you wrote is a process to eliminate the AUX battery from Jeep's electrical circut, but will NOT automatically eliminate/disable the ESS feature...

One still needs to either push the infamous button every time the vehicle is started, or use the third party electronic device that will "remember" the last state of that button...

Well, my 2021 JLUR diesel appears to be unaware of the fact that this process should not work. NO ESS, no codes. If I scroll through the menu it shows ESS not available, battery charging.

The main reason why it’s not recommended is that it can mask other issues by having the warning indicator on all of the time. If disabled with tech and the stop start not available light comes on it can be an early warning for a week battery. Other than that I ran mine with the sensor unplugged for a while without any issues.
