Hey Guys,

Just picked up my new JLUR XR this week and loving it (aside from the abysmal gas mileage ?).

I have noticed in stop and go traffic that the engine is still idling 100% at 1,000-1,500ish RPMs when fully stopped. I’m not entirely sure how ETorque is supposed to act compared to a non-ETorque engine, but shouldn’t the engine be turning off in these scenarios? Are there certain factors or things that the engine uses to determine when it will or will not cut off?

Thanks for any insight.

If heating or cooling is running it will not shut off.

This was one of my thoughts. It’s been hot as hell here so the AC temp has been set to Lo and fan on 4+. I assumed this might override the engine from shutting off. Thanks.

It kind of has a mind of it's own. Once the jeep's been running and the eTorque battery is charged, it will stop and start with the AC on but the AC will stop but the fan will still blow. From my experience, at a red light the engine will stop. Once you take your foot off the brake, the engine will start up again.

I read that the system is used when the RPM's are under something like 1500....but I've never had the Jeep go on just the eTorque system itself.

Correct. On LO/Auto, or on LO with A/C on, at any fan speed, the engine will not shut off.
