The main reason why it’s not recommended is that it can mask other issues by having the warning indicator on all of the time. If disabled with tech and the stop start not available light comes on it can be an early warning for a week battery. Other than that I ran mine with the sensor unplugged for a while without any issues.
Evic warning on all the time is one issue.. Looks like heck.... is distracting and it can mask other Evic warnings that could be critical.

I LOL at people who place black tape over the Evic warning light region to mask warnings.. You can't fix stupid..

.....also depending on the vehicles configuration you can have other issues.

For one, Remote Start not working has been reported by a few people... Again depends on the vehicle configuration.

Then you have the issue when the vehicle goes to the dealership for work.. Tech's WiTechll will cry foul so to speak. Tech will spend time trying to figure out why which costs you money as you pay for his time..

In some states there will be an issue when it comes to State inspection time...

Anyway, disabling ESS by disconnecting that plunger is a lame lame way to deal with ESS.

Im the idoit that put tape on, and yeah thats pretty dumb looking. it didnt bother me tho...

but I didnt really think to ask about it being bad to do till you mentioned it, cuz its listed as an adaptation you can do in the jscan docs and the light didnt bother me cuz I didnt think it was really used for much else.

I dont have remote start and if battery is dieing I think the ESS first keeps saying not ready before the avenger light turns on. i always put pin back in and clear hood ajar code before going to dealership. but like your saying it checks for other stuff too...

anyways thanks again.

I ordered the smart stop start last Saturday. I received it Wednesday. Installed it, which took 5 min. Hardest part was trying to get the unit harness into the stock location. I couldn’t see and needed to go by feel (which I suck at).

Great communication, fast shipping and it works great. I should’ve gotten one years ago.

Tazer is the best. I can also use it to run my fan at max speed when I am crawling a mountain trail and oil temp gets too high. Rubicon owners can also use it to stop the Jeep from auto connecting their swaybar. I think they can also use the Tazer to just lock the front axle. It is a super awesome little device. You can do sooo many things with it.
The offroad shop that installed my lift kit and sold me the Tazer, didn't even bother asking me if I wanted to disable stop/start or not, he just did it 😆 Nobody can like this awful feature of cars.

Every time I get in my jeep I start it and before I shift into 1st I press the ESS button. I never get into my jeep with stuff in my hand. If I’m carrying anything, I’ll put it in the jeep where I want it, then get in. But that’s just me. When I first got the jeep I’d forget to press the ESS and at the first stop light it would meet the parameters for shut off and shut off. Then I’d immediately hit the ESS button. After a few weeks of forgetting it became second nature. I have 12k miles on my jeep now and never forget to turn it off. Now, when I get my tazer I will use that to permanently disable the ESS and use it for all the other fancy things I need it for but in the meantime I won’t forget to press the little annoying button!

I’ve been using the Tazer since 2021, and to be honest, every time I open the manual it feels like a small nightmare.

The instructions are poorly structured and difficult to follow, arguably even intimidating for new users. That said, once you push through the learning curve, resetting your Jeep a few times, making (and correcting) configuration mistakes, and enduring countless sleep cycles, it does eventually start to make sense 😊.
After that, it’s actually quite manageable.

With every firmware update, I keep hoping the manual has been rewritten or significantly improved, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case so far.

That said, their email-based customer support is excellent. If you reach out with a question, you can expect a prompt and helpful response.

Yeah, it is what it is….. I just deal with it because the juice is definitely worth the squeeze for me…..It’s one of my favorite mods. I have a Rubi so I use more functions than people with Sahara/ Sports etc….
