We have a 2022 Ecodiesel with 25k perfect miles. We love it! Is the replacement fuel pump an upgrade or improvement over the original pump? If so, what is different? I am hesitant to disrupt anything that is working so well if the replacement pump is exactly the same as my current pump.

Externally, it's the same. It bolts up to the engine the same way with the same fuel lines.

The guts inside have been upgraded to handle the low grade fuel we use in the US without grenading.

2023 for me with 14.5K , zero issues, had the recall taken care of about a thousand miles ago. No difference in performance, certainly hoping it has long term durability. The old one was recalled for a reason.

I just got off the phone with River Oaks Jeep in Houston, soke to the parts department. There are 4 things for the HPFP recall, and one of those is a piece of paper that they have to put into your owners manual, which River Oaks Jeep does not have. They have all the mechanical parts but not the piece of paper mind you. They will not replace the HPFP without that one piece of paper. I haven't looked yet but i bet a $100 i could find it online and print the fucking thing. What a fucking joke.....

Hello Fellow Eco-Diesel Owner đź‘‹
I also have a 2022 JLURD with now 34,000 miles
The recall was completed approximately @ 27,000 miles ( 6 mos ago)
Zero issues. No performance decline
As previously mentioned, the external view of pump is identical
Internal parts has changed. Nobody knows exactly or specifically what has been changed, other than to improve reliability (possibly based on poor quality Diesel Fuel here in US)
Remember, the Eco-Diesel is a European Design & Engine, designed to work with Diesel Fuel tolerances from Europe
I would recommend scheduling replacement
IF that HPFP grenades, your entire Engine/Fuel System may have to be replaced
Do not hesitate to replace
I would also recommend speaking to the Technician (NOT the service advisor) prior to install
Make sure they have done replacement previously
Also, make sure you're using a Diesel Additive (Hot Shots is what I use @ every fill up)
Best wishes 👍

do you have any detail on what was "upgraded"?
got a source where we could perhaps investigate further?

we've been looking for detail on this for quite some time already and i haven't seen anything definitive yet.

I don't. I just know what everyone else knows.

I was like you 2022 at the 25k mark with no issues, but I did the recall about 4 months ago, no issues. IMHO drives the same if not a bit better. MPG still the same, and a boat load of torque, LOL!!!!

I'm not sure I care what was upgraded. I guess some members are just intellectually curious - I get that. The businessman in me says Jeep is spending a boatload of cash so I doubt that this is anything but an improvement. They sure don't want a second round of identical recalls. And...they certainly took enough time to do it, so let's hope the time was well spent. After all was said and done, other than Ecodiesel bashing, there doesn't seem to be any real tales of mechanical damage. I've seen maybe one or two spoken of on here. And...we've all been watching for them.

Only reason I had mine replaced was that I pulled a P026C for low fuel pressure and I assumed that there was an issue with my fuel pump. Turns out that the Doc's Diesel air filter element was flowing too well and too much air was going past the sensor. Went back to a stock filter and the light went away. IMO the issue with the pump can be traced to improper priming after a fuel filter change. Would be nice if we could drop the filter in from the top, like TDI. I make sure that I cycle the pump with the ignition at least 20 times and it still scares me on frist startup how long it takes to fire.

I prime crazy amount of times too and that first start always takes its time. Almost hurts my soul hearing the Jeep struggle to life.

It would be interesting to know if it was bosch that covered the cost of the recall- since it is their part.

Yeah, that's not normal...at all.

You've probably stated this elsewhere, but have you had that issue addressed?

So far I haven’t ever gotten priming to work with less than a 30 sec crank. I cringe the whole time.

Just did a fuel filter in my tdi yesterday and it drops in from the top and doesn’t crank like crazy with no priming.
