Like most of us, I received a letter from my local dealer instructing me to make an appointment for fuel pump replacement. I was driving by the dealer today, and stopped in to get on the waiting list. The service advisor told me that they would check for recall applicabilty the "next time I brought my Jeep in for service". Challenge is, I do my own maintenance and have no need to come in for service. Interestingly, the recall letter says to:
Call our service department to confirm your recall status PRIOR to bringing your vehicle in for service. The capitalization of "PRIOR" was how the letter was written.

There was a definate implication that not having my routine maintenance done by them would jeopardize my recall repairs at their dealership.

@JeepCares: What exactly do we need to do to get on the wait list? Why do I need to actually bring the Jeep in for them to confirm my recall applicability? Why else would I get a recall letter from them?

The recall letter actually states (at least mine did) that they don't have a solution for the problem yet, and to keep in contact with your service department.
They're short parts, so the dealer can't do anything yet.

Agreed. Just to be clear, I am simply trying to get on the "list" that determines in what order the fuel pumps are allocated once they become available.

@Kudos, is it that they don't have a solution yet, or just don't have enough pumps right now. I thought it was the latter. If they are still trying to determine a solution, this will take a long time to complete.

I believe that they are prioritizing those that have failed and eventually will get to the rest of us.

Keep in mind this does NOT apply to all models, even know you might own a MY 22 if it doesn’t fall under this timeframe of build date…. the recall affects the following,
21,244 units of the Jeep Wrangler built from August 20th, 2019 to November 2nd, 2021.
7,375 units of the Jeep Gladiator built from June 4th, 2020 to May 13th, 2022.
31,794 units of the Ram 1500 built from May 29th, 2019 to January 21st, 2022.
Just Incase anyone with eco diesel is wondering why they didn’t get a letter or no recall shows up under their vin on mopar online

Yeah mine is not on the list so far.

But me and @JL Diesel bought ours around the same time and his imploded and blew out his fuel system. I think we were close on production I am sure he can give build date.

Idk there were a pretty big group of us that ordered diesel back in December of 21, right around the time production for MY 22 started but according to the bulletin by November of 21 the wrangler had this apparently addressed while gladiators go all the way into May of 22 production with same fuel pump issues on the 3.0 ?‍♂?‍♂?‍♂?‍♂ I’m not sure if anyone has peeked around at this to see what HP fuel pump is currently installed on the 3.0 coming out for MY 23 I believe the recall is on the Bosch model cp 4.2

Don’t remember exact date but was mid Feb ‘22 and yes that pump failed at 4200 miles and required a full fuel system replacement. Now the real question for me is when was my new pump manufactured because it was in stock at the dealership but who knows how long it was sitting there. So far no issues with the new one and have put ~5000 miles on it.

Edit: the new pump was installed Aug ‘22

This is a good example of an area where @JeepCares can add value. I'm not asking them to solve a perplexing mechanical issue, just clarify a confusing recall process. My fear is they haven't responded because there is no answer. Cmon, @JeepCares, get in the game!

Jeep cares contact me today, Because my Jeep is in at the dealer with an open case for something unrelated to the fuel pump issue. I posed the question today regarding the fuel pump, they said "stay in contact with your dealer, as the fuel pumps become available they should have you on some sort of waiting list to schedule the repairs." They also said "there is quite a lengthy backorder for these fuel pumps." It felt as though she was insinuating it could be quite some time before anything gets put into motion. I've heard of stories similar to this that Ford is having issues getting back order parts on their Brancos, such as the tie rods, Some fail and will continue to fail when Bronco owners try and treat their Bronco like a solid axle Jeep while offroad.

Can't confirm yet authenticity of this (since I heard it from a friend) but was told that a dealer here in AZ refused to replace a bad pump (vehicle is dead w/o it) since it had the open recall and no updated part was available. Only option was for customer to pay for the service, even though it was warranty.
