Can't confirm yet authenticity of this (since I heard it from a friend) but was told that a dealer here in AZ refused to replace a bad pump (vehicle is dead w/o it) since it had the open recall and no updated part was available. Only option was for customer to pay for the service, even though it was warranty.
But...if no updated part was available, what part did they use to fix the Jeep on his dime? Another of the faulty design that was on there to begin with?

Apparently another dealership nearby has one of the updated parts... I didn't think they were available yet. Still trying to confirm. I don't understand how one dealer can have an updated part but the other can't get it. Makes no sense -- seems like an easy thing to confirm.

To answer your question though, he told first dealer to pound sand, towed it somewhere else.

Was just speaking with the Jeep care representative who informed me when the fuel pump replacement becomes available we will be notified VIA mail. At that time we're supposed to reach out to our dealership and schedule the install. Sounds like it will be a first come first serve basis. Not necessarily a good thing in my opinion to be one of the first. Personally I would prefer a mechanic that installed several before installing mine.

I hear you, but if your Jeep is down, it would suck to be out of a Jeep for who knows long because no one will actually warranty the part. Hopefully if mine does go, I don't run into the same runaround.

Sounds to me you're going off stories from a friend who knows someone? how reliable is any of that? Following that story with "what if" scenarios. Similar stories to ours with the new Ford Bronco parts on backorder, such as the tie rods. Everything in today's world has gone South since 2020. This Is The New Normal we just have to make the best of it.

Oh totally agree (and stated such in a couple of posts above). I was posting because I wasn't sure if anyone else might have run into the same issue and my miles on mine are getting to that point where people are seeing pump failures. A couple of hours later was when I heard back that the other dealer had recall part availability. Probably should have waited to post, but here we are :)

Do we know what has been updated on the pump? I was told my MY22 diesel, built early 22, had the "new" pump. But my understanding it is still the CP4 pump, maybe it's called CP4.2.2. Is it like software keep adding versions when you program out some bugs.

I’ve been spending time reading through the 3.0 threads on the JT forum. Seems the consensus is the parts aren’t available yet, second quarter of 2023.

Yeah, I am not talking about the recall. I have yet to get the recall for my MY22 diesel. BUT I was told I have the "new" fuel pump. I was trying to figure what was the difference from the first iteration on the Wrangler to the second. The pump on mine is still the CP4, but something has changed.

I assume all the recalls will get what I have, being the "new" pump.

Unless they are providing you with a part number that’s different, I’d be hesitant to believe them…

Yeah mine is not on the list so far.

But me and @JL Diesel bought ours around the same time and his imploded and blew out his fuel system. I think we were close on production I am sure he can give build date.
min wasn't on the list a few months back, and it popped up about 1 month ago

Ya. Like me. I’ve been using diesel additive on every fill up using Docs diesel and replaced the fuel filter 3 times in a year It has been clean without debris

Like most of us, I received a letter from my local dealer instructing me to make an appointment for fuel pump replacement. I was driving by the dealer today, and stopped in to get on the waiting list. The service advisor told me that they would check for recall applicabilty the "next time I brought my Jeep in for service". Challenge is, I do my own maintenance and have no need to come in for service. Interestingly, the recall letter says to:
Call our service department to confirm your recall status PRIOR to bringing your vehicle in for service. The capitalization of "PRIOR" was how the letter was written.

There was a definate implication that not having my routine maintenance done by them would jeopardize my recall repairs at their dealership.

@JeepCares: What exactly do we need to do to get on the wait list? Why do I need to actually bring the Jeep in for them to confirm my recall applicability? Why else would I get a recall letter from them?

so, my pump was replaced last week while it was in for an unrelated Check Engine Light issue.

previously the same dealer had told me i'd have to schedule an appointment for an "Inspection" to determine if it had already contaminated the fuel system so they would know what parts to order before they did the replacement, but this time they reportedly had the parts in stock and it was handled alongside the other recalls and issues very matter-of-factly.

didn't get any paperwork, Users Manual Addendums, or stickers near the fuel filler as have been reported by some other folks. only sign anything had been done at all was a disturbance of the dirt pattern on the engine cover.
