I take turns a lot faster in my JT than I should, but since I did some modifications to the suspension I have not felt like it was going to flip, and I am pretty top heavy.

My wife’s JL handles like a dream in the mountains. Not like her WRX did of course, but good enough.

As others have said, if you pay attention, you will have warning long before you flip

See my post in the unpopular jeep opinion thread lol. Some people act like going through a round about at over 10mph is going to roll their Jeep like it fell off a cliff.

Daily driver here too, and I do a lot of spirited driving on straight line. When it comes to corning, I take it easy as I have little kids in the back. I always keep defensive driving in mind and don't play at risk if it may potentially hurt myself or others. I don't have the guts to go above my boundary.

Back to the jeep, I've installed rock sliders which weight over 110 lb, this would help a bit I assume. Also considered the Hellwig rear anti-sway bar, but haven't decided. So there are things we can do to improve the on-street handling. Or just don't install a lift kit that would make the jeep too tall. I like the low profile look and it benefits too especially for daily driving.

Personally I don't worry about flipping, I've been driving 75-95 mph a lot on highway and it handles very well so far. I do worry about if other fast drivers engage with me or potentially put me into a dangerous position, in which case I'll just slow down and give up the fun.

My ex wife rolled her PT Cruiser. I think she was just bored though as she had just left the race track where I was at on my motorcycle ?‍♀

I didn't get the Jeep as a sports car. I cruise pretty slow in the corners. You can go any speed you are comfortable at. If slow is more comfortable, go slow.

I have high performance vehicles when I need it.

Unless you make sharp turns at high rates of speed, its highly unlikely you will be able to push the jeep to the point where it will flip (unless you hit a curb for example while sliding). Traction control will step in well before it gets truely sketchy, and even with that off you are more likely to skid than flip. The jeep can pull about .7 of a g before it starts losing traction which is waaaaay above what any normal person would feel comfortable pulling in a turn.

My Audi can take a 50 mph rated off/on ramp at 80 and above. Would not try that in the Wrangler. My old Mustang I have taken corners fast enough to kick the ass end out as well accelerating out of them. Not sure I would want to try that with the Wrangler either

Hell yeah. It's a great question, mainly because I'm sure the exact same thoughts crossed many minds here. I know it crossed mine! You just had the guts to say it..lol

As for that Wrangler... All the horsepower unleashed and all the nanny features disabled. Plus a sick sequential shifter.
As for the drivers.. just take a look at Pastrana's list of injuries he's endured in his life to be at the skill level he's at. It's amazing he's even alive.

Most professional drivers will tell you, finding you and your vehicle's "100%" ability is tricky because the only way you know you've exceeded that ability is when you've lost control.

Basically driving like that is fun as hell but do it enough and chances are your gonna break something... Either a part or a bone...lol

Im assuming they probably broke at least a rear passenger rim while making the video. In one of the scenes where Hank is doing doughnuts under the stoplight it sure looks like he's about to smack the curb before the camera cuts away.

Is the risk worth the fun? 20 years ago I'd say HELL YEAH!! Today, I just don't like tearing up toys. And I hate hospitals.

My general rule of thumb is if I hear the tires start talking to me, it's time to back off the gas. It's a top heavy SUV though, just don't be stupid on the curves and you'll be fine.
This-you were given a brain, just use it. You “can” flip anything if you try hard enough. When you reach to top of Your comfort range back off. It is not a sports car and will not handle like one. It will do anything you need to do and will corner at or above posted speeds safely.

Jeeps are far more stable than what Consumer Reports will every tell you (they HATE Jeeps).

I am a Rock guy and not sure how far I can lean and roll, but I have leaned as far as 53 degrees.

Only once in 58 years of Jeeping have I ever put my Jeep on its lid, well in this case there was NO lid and the fold top was off. I had an OLD Jeep, something from the 60s. I think and I was driving on a very scary path on the side of a mountain. The road has not been driven in years and it was narrow, very narrow. It was also overgrown in the grass about 2 ft tall. I was in 4 lo and locked. My right front wheel dropped off the edge into a rain washout and as it dropped I gave it some gas to keep from sliding. The right front wheel dropped in a rock wedge, I am in 4 Lo an locked and I had IIRC 5:36 gears, the Jeep literally picked itself up and flipped and did a right turn at the same time and I landed in the wash house...each breath I took moved the jeep, I could barely breathe and gas was pouring on me from the tank under the driver's seat. There was a bunch of us and they al jumped into the washout and lifted the Jeep straight up and crawled out and up to the road. They did call for an angel flight to come to get me as I had blood coming out of my eyes, ears, and nose. I did not want to go back I said I am ok. And they said you have NO WHITES in your eyes. I ended up in the hospital for a full week under observation. I got X-Rayed and poked and prodded but nothing wrong with me other than being a big BRUISE...

That is it and I have wheeled from Alaska to Fl, Maine to Mexico, across Canada, Europe and Asia.

Take away: Don't have it in 4 Lo and locked if the grass is higher than you can see over...
At 53 degrees I would've shit myself and probably pissed myself too... That's WITHOUT rolling over..lmao!

That suspension has a lot of work done. I'm sure they also had to do an AWD type system removing the part time transfer case, because that would definitely grenade in 4wd mode on pavement like that. There's probably very little left thats stock.

I threw my stock JLR around the nurburgring a couple years back on a warm day, I would always skid a bit in the corners without feeling like it was gonna roll.

Translation: stock, the JL is well designed/low enough to drive like a normal crossover or car on the street.

Disclaimer: don't drive way over the speed limit around corners.. not safe even if you don't roll!

As a guy who as slid a motorcycle across the track a time or two...or one hundred, I agree.

And MOST of those people who are at that level are practicing stuff for months/years/decades in controlled, or more controlled environments. A lot of pro motorcycle racers still practice on gokart tracks. Better to push the envelope at 50 MPH on a gokart track than 150 MPH on a regular track.
