I've posted stuff on this site and had great reactions and some terrible. Mostly the people here are great if you aren't asking a stupid question. I'm worried this one is stupid, please go easy on me. I've had three Rubi's and never flipped one on road or off. I'm always worried about flipping on road though. I just watched the Black Rifle Coffee video and I'm starting to wonder if I've taken it too easy. I don't plan on drifting or anything, but how hard is it top actually flip a Jeep just driving on roads, or even doing doughnuts. I drive on a windy road every day and I slow down a lot before the curves, maybe I don't need to. Maybe it will skid a little before anything terrible happens. Any advice would be appreciated....

ahh....The old (hold my beer and watch this) the jeep in video was set up and driven by a stunt driver.
No doubt and I will never push that hard in real life. But it didn't flip, it just skidded. I would have thought our jeeps would flip on almost any of those turns.

Very unlikely. When mine was stock I would drive it like a damn sports car without issue. Now that I'm lifted, MTs, etc etc etc, yeah I've slowed down a bit on road, but it has never come close to flipping, even when forgetting to relock the swaybar. I mean obviously it won't handle like a Miata, but for what these are, they are very controllable and stable on road. You're working with 5000+ lbs of mechanical grip. Breaking the back end loose and (very minorly) drifting can occur , but not even close to anything to worry about.

Most of our Jeeps would flip on those turns at that rate of speed with a regular driver.

It really is all about a driver who has pushed the vehicle enough to know how it will react and where is that point of no return and then backing off of it.... just enough.

***Edit*** It's also about having enough horsepower to keep those tires spinning and keep the traction relatively low. Let the tires slow down enough to grab traction and oooops! ?

Of course, losing some grip and sliding towards a curb may allow Physics and laws of motion to flip the Jeep or really any vehicle thats tall

If your traction control is on and your Jeep hasn't yelled at you for your driving, you've never even been close to flipping it. Seriously, the JL's traction control will make it perfectly clear that you're driving it too hard well before you flip. It will sound alarms and throttle you down regardless of how much you mash the gas pedal. You will absolutely know when traction control intervenes.

Don't ask me how I know this. I'll plead the fifth.

You're looking at a professional stunt driver in a Jeep with many safety systems intentionally disabled to do what they're doing.

You can flip a Corvette or a Dodge Viper if you hit it from the side with enough force. Even with something small like a Toyota Yaris.

If it’s gonna flip, it’s gonna flip. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just be aware of your surroundings when you drive, don’t do stupid stuff, and buckle up you and your loved ones.

Good luck.

Jeeps are far more stable than what Consumer Reports will every tell you (they HATE Jeeps).

I am a Rock guy and not sure how far I can lean and roll, but I have leaned as far as 53 degrees.

Only once in 58 years of Jeeping have I ever put my Jeep on its lid, well in this case there was NO lid and the fold top was off. I had an OLD Jeep, something from the 60s. I think and I was driving on a very scary path on the side of a mountain. The road has not been driven in years and it was narrow, very narrow. It was also overgrown in the grass about 2 ft tall. I was in 4 lo and locked. My right front wheel dropped off the edge into a rain washout and as it dropped I gave it some gas to keep from sliding. The right front wheel dropped in a rock wedge, I am in 4 Lo an locked and I had IIRC 5:36 gears, the Jeep literally picked itself up and flipped and did a right turn at the same time and I landed in the wash house...each breath I took moved the jeep, I could barely breathe and gas was pouring on me from the tank under the driver's seat. There was a bunch of us and they al jumped into the washout and lifted the Jeep straight up and crawled out and up to the road. They did call for an angel flight to come to get me as I had blood coming out of my eyes, ears, and nose. I did not want to go back I said I am ok. And they said you have NO WHITES in your eyes. I ended up in the hospital for a full week under observation. I got X-Rayed and poked and prodded but nothing wrong with me other than being a big BRUISE...

That is it and I have wheeled from Alaska to Fl, Maine to Mexico, across Canada, Europe and Asia.

Take away: Don't have it in 4 Lo and locked if the grass is higher than you can see over...
