When it comes to durability and long life, all the bases relating to the starter gear itself should be covered, but the higher number of stop-start cycles lead to increased engine wear.
And good luck to you and your credibility. Putting a period in the middle of this sentence and trying to pass it off as a quote...

Good luck to you and your e torque and ess Long term. Maybe you could print this out and the dealer will give you a discount on the $2000 battery or engine rebuil. But my bet is you’ll have sold it long before then. Prove me wrong. Time will tell.
Nah.

....someone asks about eTorque, another posts that they like the system and how it relates to thier ESS, then another comes on here all sour about it. I would say something, but hey my "occupation" says it all

You can keep quoting me all you want because I LOVE eTorque and ESS.
I have no issue with the potential eTorque/ESS maintenance or engine longevity, nor have I stating that it is better/worse than anything else.

I do have an issue with intentionally misquoting things.

I was kinda forced into etorque at the time of my order in '22. I did some research and was ok with it.
Now that I have it, I LOVE it, and it really is seamless and in my opinion, almost "peppy".
I plan to keep it for many years and I already have 22k miles after a year and a half. I'm not keeping it to prove anything to anyone, but so far I really enjoy it.

What I’m saying must be the truth , it really got some E Torque/ESS lovers upset. Only the truth can do that. ? the truth just sounds different and people know it.

Yeah, I’m really pissed at the fact my etorque is a non-issue and I don’t get to have the pleasure of replacing/bypassing batteries?

No one is upset, you’re not that important, regardless of what you were taught. It’s just odd that you have a ginormous stick filling your rectal cavity in regards to E-torque. Your comments are derived from stupidity mostly, sprinkled with ignorance, a dash of assumption, and pinch of special Ed.

I find it humorous how many want a dual battery setup... as long as it's not 48V or warrantied by Jeep.

Yes I know these aren't equal in many ways so don't "umm ackchyually" me.

Does anyone know what happens when an eTorque battery completely fails? Obviously start-stop and additional starting torque wouldn't function, but are there other issues? Does the BSG power just go straight to the DC-DC converter and charge the 12V battery like normal?

And since eTorque is an emissions related component, could a failed system prevent passing an emissions test (through a code... not sniffer)?

I have the 3.6L eTorque, so far so good but I'm old school I would have preferred and old-fashioned alternator, if nothing else just for the cost vs the eTorque battery. Don't get me wrong it's a smooth-running engine and I'm happy with it, definitely has more power than I'll ever need or use but I figure at some point no matter what the etorque battery will have to be changed out. I'm not 100% but I don't think I had a choice when I bought it, but I think the auxiliary battery route at least has the option to completely remove it which is what I would do if I had that set up, as I'm not a fan of ESS anyway.

Flips final thoughts; if I'm still alive and the world is still turning when the etorque battery dies I hope it's still under warranty, if not I'll accept paying for a new one but only once.

Enjoy your jeeps, jeepers!

I agree about redactions. And I liked the That 70's video.

But the full article doesn't change the gist ("truth"). If the extra wear problem had been solved, the (20 month old) article wouldn't refer to potential technology to mitigate it. Based on the data provided, it's not clear the current and forthcoming technologies do/will even fully overcome the ~10x wear factor. Even if they did, as long as any starting wear exists ESS carries a wear penalty (i.e. ~10x more engine starts will still cause more engine wear and shorten engine life relative to 1x starts on the same engine).
