Another Asfir user here. Been excellent for me, a few scratches and a tad dented but easy enough to remove and beat out with a sledge.
If I was playing hard on the rocks regularly I’d maybe look elsewhere but for me it fits well, is light and gives protection to the vulnerable 8spd transmission, sump and pipework. Driving on the heather on this area, it’s strewn with rocks and boulders. Genuine protection and piece of mind. ?

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Yes. The Rubicon doesn't have anything special or different in this area.
100% true, there are no special factory-mounted skid plates on any of Jeeps offerings :(

But that's great news for all the companies that do make the good stuff!

Technically only the Rubicon has the steel bumper option, which comes with the front skid plate. The "Rock Rails" also don't come on all trim levels either. Oh and don't forget the gas cap door... for when a branch tries to unscrew the gas cap? If we include the JT, the Rubicon also gets rear bed rock rails, and the Mojave gets a different silver painted front skid plate.

But yeah... no real notable improvements.

For anyone running the ASFIR - where's the best place to find installation instructions? I'd like to get a good idea of the installation before I start. Thanks!

The only odd thing about installing the ASFIR was having to use a jack to raise the rear cross member high enough to get the bolts started. I then used an impact gun to tighten the cross member. It put tension on the skid plate, but not much. No problems thus far. Running the Rubicon in July so that’s the real test.
