sorry, one of those things you don't feel comfortable about till asking...

Am I reading this correctly that for a 20' rubicon I would use a little over 1 QT in the front and 1.5 QTs in the rear?

Thanks!

My 2019 Rubicon (M210 front and M220 rear) took 1.3QTs and 1.6QTs respectively.

Changed mine this weekend in my 2018 Rubicon and that is pretty accurate. I also installed the AEV diff covers, which have the same oil capacity as stock.

If both axles are LSD, then you will need it in the front axle as well. However, obviously the rear axle is in 100% continuous operation and it will be the one you notice making the noise more often than the front which is only used in 4x4 conditions.
No Jeep applications have front LSD, clutch limited slip or track loc that requires additional additives. Front is Open or Elocker only.

Yes, you can add too much. Too much FM can make the diff act like it is "open" because the clutches will slip too much. Keep in mind these differentials have a very small capacity (1.3Qts in front and 1.5Qts in rear--at least mine did) and 4 ounces will be about 8% of the capacity in the rear and about 10% in the front.

I would add 2 ounces to start and add more if chatter is experienced.
I am going to pull the trigger on the 75w90 and 75w140 Asmoil Severe fluid, with the Sahara, I do have the LSD in the rear and I understand that the Asmoil does come with some LSD additive, but if I needed more would you go with the Mopar LSD additive or Asmoils Slip lock additive?

Different covers require different amount of fluids, if you have aftermarket covers from MC you have to go by the requirement set by MC and not by Jeep.

But generally speaking, you fill until fluid starts flowing out of the fill hole. And that should be the correct amount. I wouldn’t go by the numbers listed on spec sheets because there are sometimes residual oil left in the axles so you end up overfilling slightly anyways.

I want to agree because it would make life a lot easier, but Metalcloak states to fill to manufacture spec.

Interesting, thanks for looking it up!
I wonder if their fill hole is in the right position.

It is not. I had another post asking similar. The MC rear cover takes 2 qts and the front about 1.5. Can it harm anything having too much?

Probably nothing harmful if too much, just create more drag. So slightly worse mileage.
But could cause aeration and inadequate lubrication and higher temperature if too little though

Guys....
No need to remove the Diff covers for this simple fluid swap. Utilize the drain plugs. I recommend using some Thread Tape when reinstalling the drain plugs.

IMO — dump the factory stuff at 2k mis. Then swap again at 20k, then every 20k following (obviously full synthetic)

I would keep it "all in the family" and use the Amsoil Slip-Lock, though I am betting you will not need it.
