Oh ye of little faith!

Here's the breakdown of what's in Marvel Mystery Oil:

1000007193.jpg

On a related note, I noticed they didn't test any AmSoil additives in OP's video. How convenient!
I thought you were going to post a video that did a scientific comparison between various diesel additives. That video seemed instead to be nothing but speculation about what Marvel Mystery Oil might do while lacking any testing at all, right? Hell, did he even mention diesel or our fuel pump?

He did seem to poke fun at their highly questionable marketing at the end though. Rob from Illinois espousing that it was the best $ he ever spent is prominently on the label. But, of course, it's not snake oil.

No more snake oil than the rest of the shit we put in our fuel tanks.

Like I said in my first post, I do a 50/50 mix between HS-EDT and Marvel Mystery Oil. I really only need one of them, but I like to save money and Marvel Mystery Oil will get the job done for less $$ and at this point the EDT is a FEAR INSURANCE. However once I swap out for a CPX, I will be running MMO only! ;)

No need for FEAR INSURANCE when I have a HPFP that won't grenade my whole engine in a void scenario! :handsinair: :fist bump:

I read someone above mentioning cetane...

You realize you only need cetane additive if your fuel tank has low quality fuel in it, or if you're diesel has been sitting around so long that it's getting old and breaking down. Beyond that, you just throwing your money away with a cetane booster additive.

You own a diesel vehicle now, if you're not paying attention to the quality of diesel fuel you're putting in your engine, you're just asking for trouble, and no amount of additives is going to make up for your ignorance!

Makese wonder how a "performance dose" of HS EDT would compare to the others given the price difference.
I'll tell you this much, it ain't nearly as expensive as AmSoil, that's for sure!

That's the main reason I switched to HS myself. Does the same thing as AmSoil, and it's only $50 for a gallon instead of $80 for a gallon of AmSoil.

I wish a review on which brand diesel fuel is best. It's all trash compared to what is used in Europe from what I can tell. Finding the cleanest and highest cetane diesel would be a good choice. I trie to find a station that has a high turnover. Anyone in California using Propel fuel?

Big oil is out to make $$$$ so they are going to produce the cheapest quality fuel they can.

It stops being snake oil when people like this perform tests to verify that it does (or does not) perform as claimed. Up until then it's as trustworthy as what "Rob in IL" supposedly claimed:
Jeep Wrangler JL Diesel engine additives test 1000011538

Hopefully you're now aware that HS-EDT had barely any impact at all on wear scar. Not quite snake oil, but close. It is, however, extremely cheap.

Agree with your note. I did want to say that I have been using the EDT since i bought my Jeep but will be switching to Archoil soon. Funny, i actually placed my Archoil order slightly before this video came out but I now feel even better about my decision to switch.

Regarding EDT - This week i had to fill up on the way home with a nearly empty tank and couldnt get to my EDT due to a full trunk of stuff from a trip. I noticed that my Jeep felt a little rougher and the Dieseling noise was quite a bit louder than normal. I usually just hear it when the engine is cold and im climbing a step rough hill leaving the neighborhood but it was noticeably louder at all times.

I added the additive a few days later and topped off the tank and noticed the reduction in noise pretty immediately.

So anyway to conclude, It does seem to make the engine run smoother and quieter but isnt doing much for the fuel pump according to the video.

Did I miss where we were talking about DEF system problems? I'm pretty sure it's been about fuel pumps and related potential treatments.

1 thing I can say is that I have a 5.9 Cummins that has ~350k miles that I never added anything to the fuel. I have a 2016 6.7 cp3 Cummins that acts like it is gonna break the motor mounts at first start up without an additive. It violently shakes and misses. Add Edt or PS and it is instantly gone. Gonna try the opti-lube stuff next. No idea what it is adding. But I always use it.

I didn't watch the video at all. What exactly is a wear scar?

So you're saying I should just switch to Marvel Mystery Oil only!?!?

You know how much money I'm going to save? $30 every 6 months! :CWL: :handsinair:

A wear scar? That's the fundamental thing they were testing. The thing that damages our fuel pumps.

Normally you seem to be pretty damn exceptional at researching things. Yes, it's a stupidly long video, but you can scrub to the sections where the throw up charts.
