hood isnt gonna fic the main problem gents. looks like either clogged radiator or failed T-stat. I havent seen about 225 ever on oil or coolant. that includes wheeling the Middle of Joshua tree national park on 4th of july at 104 degrees still maintained 210-220 coolant and oil temps. also try to keep an eye on that transmission. they dont like being over 220

have you tried the heater trick and running it on full hot with the fan on high?

wheeling is no issue for these things.

it’s not until we’re under sustained load moving at speed that we exceed the systems ability to shed heat.

I think you're on the wrong post this has nothing to do with 3.6 gassers. This is all about heating issues on the 3.0 diesel

Same thing gas or diesel...never owned a 3.6.
Didn't realize you had the 4 cylinder. But I think you're mistaken. huge difference between Gasser and a diesel especially operating temperatures. This forum is for "3.0 diesel operating temperatures" so for you to chime in about you never go over a certain temperature on your gasser is irrelevant.

... I you referring that because i have a 3.6L i have no idea about the 3.0? kind of funny when i know quite a bit about them and i am rather good at doing research on things i don't know about. Plus my every day job is working on 3000+ degree furnaces. its not rocket science when it comes to motors. its extremely simple thing when you really break it down... Thanks though.

btw the normal operating temp is 210-230 depending on load for the 3.0 Ecodiesel per manufacture :like: have a great day mate.

Hi Guys-

Has anyone experienced this? For reference-I live in Illinois, aka flat country. My coolant temp jumps over median at about 55+mph (highway speeds). Coolant levels are where they should be. But it is running extremely hot. Temp instantly decreases when I let off the gas pedal. Everything else seems to be running at normal temperatures.

I have a low-profile bumper and winch, so airflow is not restricted. I was wheeling this past weekend and was pushing it hard on rock crawling and it didn't go over median once. So, I'm confused on how and why this is happening at highway speeds when it is getting the most airflow.

Radiator has been power washed several times with the grille off to get any mud or dust in there. Its ticking me off that I can't figure this issue out and keep running hot. '

I need to figure this out before I head to windrock at the end of August so all ideas/advice please share.

Thank you.
heres a post about this from a year ago mate in the JT forums.

JT forums 3.0 oil temps

I don't have a 4 cyl either and it makes no difference..

By the way I see you erased your previous post about NEVER owning a 3.6.

You contradict yourself several times and as far as I can see and read, you have nothing of relevance or help for us diesel 3.0 owners while looking for resolution to excessive heat issues. Don't want to speak for all, so have at it "mate" maybe someone will find your dialogue and blogs helpful. Not this guy.

Well...I cracked and bought a Mishimoto aluminum radiator for our diesel. Prolly gonna take 10 days to 2 weeks to receive and after the install, we're heading off for a few weeks pulling the trailer.
I sure hope it helps control the temperature issue. If it drops 10f on the high end I'll be happy.
They said look for 15 to 25f drop but we'll see.
Damn expensive experiment if it doesn't work.
It's so new there's just no reviews so I'm the guinea pig.
