I would be inclined to get something bigger and more comfy your ram could tow. Get some nice ground tents or whatever for when you’re feeling more adventurous... I would consider folding the seats down and sleeping in the Jeep, with a rear hatch tent the dogs can stay in and a place to relax.

For example:

Little portable toilet and road shower will make it just as useful as a tiny pull behind camper.

EDIT:
Apparently Mopar “makes” one.

HYK could be another option as well. I have looked them and am renting one in June. They seem real nice and all Baltic Burch construction. https://hykoutdoors.com/

That's definitely an option. Have you seen one? If so, what's the build quality like? So far I've added Scamp and this one to my list. Thanks!
I haven’t had a chance to see one in person yet. Nearest one to me is about 90 miles away.

Was looking to make a trip out to see it in the next month. I can post pictures and give more feedback when I do.

Camping with Jeeps is tricky as hell to stay within GVWR/tongue/payload ratings- I haven't pulled the trigger yet but based on my research the popular options (that people actually buy/use for real offroading vs parking at a campsite then wheeling) are -

JL
Patriot Campers
Turtleback
Boreas XT

JT (WITH MAX TOW S/S-Sport only)
Alu Cab Canopy
All of the above list

Joe, I did a ton of research before deciding to build my own. I’d be happy to share some of the options I found.

looks like you are still debating between a RTT Adventure trailer and a sleep in like the Boreas.

Sure yeah share away - would prob be great for the group as well.

I forgot to add Mammoth Overland is pretty slick too.

Wife and I want to camp in Montana too so thats what is driving me toward more enclosed options Ive seen too many grizzlies snacking on ground / near ground tents.

You could likely get away with one of the smaller pop-up’s. Small frontal area when towing. A-Liner is nice but watch the weight. Jeeps are NOT heavy tow rated?

OffGridTrailer expedition 2 is what I pull with my JLR (via Max Coupler hitch vs ball hitch).

We've been looking hard at the Taxa Cricket. Need to see one in person but currently in the lead.

There are so many different variables in making a decision. Price, use, family size, desired comfort level, off grid or camp grounds

All the trailers listed above are good trailers and met those individuals criteria, for you it might be way different. For me it was a Patriot Campers X1H. If you are taking your time on making a decision I would recommend attending one of the overland expos. There is always tons of off grid trailer companies there show casing what they got.

My girlfriend and I are in the exact same situation; 2 people, 2 dogs. I've been eye-balling a Opus OP-2. Opus Website

They also make a Opus OP-Lite which is obviously lighter and easier for the Jeep to tow.

I like Patriot Campers, the X3 would work decently for us, but I'm not paying $60,000 for it. That's ridiculous.

Whew, that OP-2 is heavy.

I feel like I learned a lot from watching Overland Expo tours, unfortunately we weren't able to make east since we were touring out west.

Another really educational watch is if you can find a factory tour video on YT for the manufacturers you are looking at. Pretty big difference in materials and quality across the board.

Price was of course a consideration, but it was the astronomical lead times that really pushed me towards building my own. That, and I wanted 37s.
