Whew, that OP-2 is heavy.

I feel like I learned a lot from watching Overland Expo tours, unfortunately we weren't able to make east since we were touring out west.

Another really educational watch is if you can find a factory tour video on YT for the manufacturers you are looking at. Pretty big difference in materials and quality across the board.

Price was of course a consideration, but it was the astronomical lead times that really pushed me towards building my own. That, and I wanted 37s.
I think YT is a huge resource for gathering information and seeing what is out there. I spent hours that way researching. And it honestly came down to being able to see touch and get in a X1 before I was able to make a decision.

We have been looking too and are strongly considering a Boreas XT. The build quality is really nice and we want something with hard sides, heat, and a hot shower. Oh, plus we will be able to haul our two dirt bikes and mountain bikes if we want.
.... and rent it out to me...... :D I'm in CO!

I want one of these but I can't justify the cost, we're poor, especially these days.

I know the feeling, we haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. A buddy just bought a brand new one a couple weeks ago. I had my eye on a used 2019 up in the Denver area but it sold. I'm still keeping my eyes peeled though. In time we will have one!

I really want a nice overlanding trailer that fits 2 adults and a 100lb dog. The problem is, space in a teardrop is crappy. I finally found one several months ago that was a startup company, I think in the UK. It was perfect! It had a shower, kitchen, independent suspension, lock n roll hitch, but what set it apart was that inside, it expanded like the Taxa ones (which I didn't like once I finally saw one in person) and it had I think a twin bed up top! So, a queen size in the trailer plus a twin up top, that's perfect! I'm trying to find the stupid link but can't seem to find it.

I bought a NoBo 10.6 this week that had about as much versatility as Ive seen in small lightweight campers. Its got mud tires and the new models have a Curt “beast” independent suspension. 1763lbs with a 236 tongue weight. I’m picking it up Wednesday and will be taking it out St patty’s weekend which will give me a good chance to test the heat.

The inside has a convertible couch that unfolds to a queen bed, ac, heat, TV, a folding ramp door with screen since its also a toy hauler, 2 side doors and 2 folding tables for eating etc.

Up top is a roof top tent that sleeps 2 on a rhino rack. A 270 degree bat wing awning and kayak carrier. Also a TV antenna and wifi thing.

Theres a slideout kitchen with a 60 quart 12v/110 fridge and propane stove. Also a pantry.

30 gallon water, battery, propane, city water hookups, 30 amp power hookups, and cable tv hookups.

I added an on demand propane hot water heater and portable toilet to make up for the lack of bathroom and shower.

Hey there! It's fantastic that you're exploring camper recommendations! Overland Expo tours can be so informative, right? Too bad you couldn't make it to the one out east. However, you can still find factory tour videos on YouTube for the camper manufacturers you're interested in. Also, there's a site where you can hire a motorhome (www.justgoaussie.co.uk). Check it out, and I hope you'll like it!

Been looking at Boreas XT. There's one I want to pull the trigger on now that looks to be a great price given what was added to it. I also came across Hiker Trailers. They seem very similar in build along the lines of Patriot, Hiker, Boreas, but start with a very stripped down set of models. Their off-road model has a "solid" axle with leaf springs vs. the IS you see on the other square drop trailers.

From a price standpoint Hiker would be very easy to get into, and you can add things on early. I'm probably not handy enough myself for some of the add-on installations though. But, the off-road starts at 15k I believe.

Pee Wee campers was another one. Even more inexpensive, but definitionally more simplified. Like a towable sleeping box you can add stuff too.

I don't want to tent sleep any more. I want something to setup as base camp and go wheeling without having to pack everything in and out each day. The prices are quite a bit to stomach, so might lean towards hike. I don't know that I want to be hauling around clean/grey water. No need for a toilet. Not even sure shower of any kind is something I want, at least not for a while. Work will keep me tethered to a place to shower. Any of these square-drop trailers are modable to add things, but maybe buy once cry once is the way to go.

I'll add that it appears Hiker uses a good amount of wood on the inside. I assume this at least accounts for some portion of cost differences.

I'm looking forward to seeing Hiker Trailers at Overland Expo East this coming week. Them and the Opus 2 are my two that I'm the most interested in. Was disappointed Xgrid Campers didn't bring an Opus to the GSMJI.
