‘20 Rubi JL. After having the hood edges and door hinges replaced the issue came back. The bubbling is all over the door edges. Luckily, the doors are being completely replaced in December. Jeep will NOT replace the hood unless there is a hole in it ( rusted through ) I am told by the dealership doing the work. I have one year left on the corrosion/ paint warranty so I’m bringing it in for even the slightest issue so it’s documented. Amazing to have such a rugged, well built off road vehicle only to have the outer shell with such poor quality. This company really went downhill.

What's different with the hood? Seems that if they fix bubbling on the doors they should fix it on the hood. I'd fight that decision.

Oh they are fixing the hood, it will be sanded down and repainted, just not replaced.

to be fair, at 300K miles it’s going to be Body Cancer that sends my ‘90s J**p to its grave, not anything to do with the actual function of the vehicle.
seems they didn’t have far to go downhill from where they’ve been for decades.

You might want to go ask another dealership, I have very minor corrosion on my hood and the dealership said they’re ordering me a new hood.

Just got done with them today and they were really helpful. I also have a 2020

Thank you
No problem, I didn’t even notice the corrosion on all my doors until the woman helping me pointed them out.

Is your dealership a smaller one or a large one? Jerry Ulm is probably the biggest Jeep dealership I’ve seen and close by so that’s why I went there.

The hood is no different than the doors. Corrosion along the edge of any panels necessitates replacement because the corrosion thats visible on the outside is coming from the hem flange. Once it's in there, there is no repairing it. If they sand and repaint, it will be back. More than likely within a year

Thanks. I’m referencing this to the dealer.

Just reading through it. Perhaps I missed it but I’m not seeing where the hood “ must “ be replaced. I wish it would be and hope I misread.
The TLDR version is that the corrosion isn't as much a result of hinge material as contamination in the prep process of any aluminum body part. So, if your hood is showing signs of paint bubbling, it's not fixable. You need a new hood cause the chemical reaction between the aluminum hood and steel particulates contaminating the paint process set the corrosion process into an irreversible death spiral. Any fix will only last a year or two short of replacing the hood. Also, Stellantis deserves a class action suit over this cause their only fix ensures it lasts only until the warranty runs out. They know they screwed up and are hoping the lost future revenue from customer loss and lawsuits is lower than the cost of fixing this. This is downright an embarrassment. Shame things didn't get any better after Marchionne died. Jeep is still just a Fiat now. We're in an abusive relationship.
