I have been to 3 dealers since buying my 19" JLRU and every one of them keeps taking pictures and saying they will call and nothing. I have paint bubbling now on my hinges and has been on several doors. I bought my Jeep in Oregon and then moved to Michigan and then back to Ohio. Ohio dealer said last November, Performance Jeep in Centerville Ohio, he was backed up and could not do any paint warranties until after 1st of the year. He never called me back or responded to any of my messages. The next guy I saw for my steering box replacement got an ear full and apologized 2 weeks ago and said he would track down the service manager that took the pictures and get things rolling. I just called him and he gave me a friggin bullshit story. I don't care if you don't have an onsite body shop. Take pictures, call Jeep and them to authorize the repair and get me scheduled. Erwin Chrysler in Tipp City said the same thing. Wish I could help you , but don't have a body shop! I have 42, 000 miles on it now and had to pay $50 out of own pocket because they didn't fix my steering in November when under 36,000 mile warranty. They replaced the steering box and it still pulls to the left. Their customer service sucks!! Rant over!! @JeepCares I need help please.
And again no call back from the dealer today after he said yesterday that he would call me in the morning! Thinking of selling my jeep to Carmax for more than I owe and getting a non Chrysler vehicle!

Just like the previous posters. Submitted a claim July 2021 and since then silence.

Nice. The question is, have they done anything to address it on our new ones?
Only thing I have heard is there appears to now be a black gasket material between the hinges and the door. Not aware of any other changes to the other areas that are bubbling.

I've heard that but I can't tell, I'll look again. Mine was built February 14th.

I was all set to buy a used JLUS this past weekend and saw this issue on the hinges. As painstaking as it was…I walked away. I’ve looked at 10 or so used wranglers in total and every. Single. One. Had this problem. I’ve dreamed about having a wrangler since before I could even drive…I’ve put a purchase on hold for now and am seeing if they’ll get this problem fixed. If they do, I’d buy a new one. If they don’t, I can’t justify paying that kind of money on a car that has a known defect and they aren’t doing anything about it. I attached this pics of the one I nearly bought but the bubbles stopped the purchase.

Does this affect all model years? My '18 Sahara didn't seem to have this problem, neither does my '21 Rubicon.

Yeah, it had 59K miles on it and they said they could submit a warranty claim on it. I don't want to drop 41K on a USED vehicle and immediately be thrown into a warranty claim which lapses at 60K I believe. I had my trade-in ready to go, a check with the difference and was on my final walk through of the car when I noticed it. I walked. I've tried very hard to find one without this issue and I am not finding any luck on the used car lots. Needless to say, the vehicle I walked away from is still up for sale.

The next day I found another Sahara for sale. I told the salesman I'd buy it if it didn't have the hinge corrosion issue. He said, "You're in luck, we just got it back from the shop fixing that exact issue." I did a detailed walk of the car before I took a test drive and found a spot they hadn't fixed. The sales guy was shocked when I said I didn't even want to take it for a spin. They make me feel crazy that this issue bothers me. Followed up with me after the weekend over text and I told him about this thread he said, "Only 129 pages? LOL. It's common for that to happen about every 5 years if you keep it outside. Keep the dream alive." I did not bother responding back to him.

I received a call back today since I called 5 times and told them I was coming over to find someone! I have an appointment for May 8th. They will have it for a week and will be fixing everything we find. I just wonder when the next parts start bubbling if I have to go through this all again.

I was detailing my jeep last weekend and noticed i have this issue on 2 of my doors, however it's not at the hinges, it's the bottom lip. i wrote it off as orange peel or something I hadn't noticed for the past two years. At least my hinges, tailgate and hood are fine lol.

It just one small little 1'' place on the very bottom lip of two doors.

Guess I'll wait and see if it gets worse or how the class action plays out...

Update on my process of trying to get my jeep paint repaired.
Be prepared for the run around. the first dealer I went to told me I had to come by at a specific time to meet with the warranty person. so I made an appointment and returned only for them to tell me they they would not submit for the repair as they do not have a body shop. I called cooperate to complain and find out where I should go. they gave me another dealer to go to in my area. I made an appointment and they took pictures to submit to Jeep. Got a call a week later telling me Jeep would approve the work but they could not do it as they have a body shop but it is not approved by Jeep. They why did Jeep send me to this dealer. This new dealer told me I have to call the cooperate office back and find another dealer to go too.
This is quite frustrating. Seems Jeeps plan is to have you keep jumping through hoops to fix a defect of their doing. Hoping you will just give up.

Jeep cares do you have any advice for me?
I love my Jeep but do not think I can recommend this product if Jeep will not stand behind it.

Hi,

My local dealership doesn't have a body shop, and when we brought my wife's 2015 JKUR in they sent us to a local shop they used, so something sounds weird with that, imo.

Good luck with the process,
Jim

Just cleaned my Jeep and I can’t believe I never noticed this, but there is under spray on the top seams of rear tailgate hinges. Not sure I want to take it in for this. Probably just touch it up myself or let it go. More upset at myself for not noticing this at delivery. Just wondering if this is common?
