Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

In the absence of perforation will FCA cover the refinish work?

I've heard of a couple guys pay out of pocket when they got the refinish worked covered by FCA to have the area under the hinges primed to mitigate future issues.

I specifically REQUESTED my dealer fix it right by painting UNDER the hinges when they fixed and they did- just as @18BlackJLRU had his done in post #88 of this thread. Haven’t picked it up yet just hoping color match is good. Dealer is covering all under warranty.

This is crazy. The more I read about this and see pictures the more I'm reconsidering ordering a new 2022 until I know for a fact Jeep has this horrible paint bubbling issue 100% taken care of and fixed. Maybe @JeepCares can give us an update on this issue ahead of the 2022 release?

YES!!! This is why I pursued getting mine warrantied vs. buying a ‘22 and going through it all over again in a few years- manufacturing has not changed so problem will continue into new model years.

Just because manufacturing hasn't changed you would still think Jeep could identify the issue and fix it. It's obviously a contaminate getting in and being painted over. It's not rocket science Jeep!! Fix it!!

Just because manufacturing hasn't changed you would still think Jeep could identify the issue and fix it. It's obviously a contaminate getting in and being painted over. It's not rocket science Jeep!! Fix it!!

Jeep obviously knows it's an issue.
It comes down to a business decision.
It's cheaper for them to let it ride (and cover the warranty work) rather than revise their process flow.
I don't like it any better than you do.

Sooner or later it's going to affect enough people where they say F it I'll buy a Bronco or something instead. Jeep now has real competition. With the pandemic and chip shortage you would think they can find time to shut things down for a little to address and fix the problem.

It's already to the point where it's affecting enough Jeep buyers and a lot of people are talking about it. Not good for longterm business. Wait until the 392 folks with deep pockets start getting paint bubbles on there $80k rigs. It's going to get crazy real quick! I'm guessing they'll cry even louder. I know I would.

Bronco is having its own issues..dropped values in the 2.7 (need motor replacement..couple guys already), roof issues, paint issues, rattles, water ingress on the A pillar during a rain, electrical issues and so on. Sounds like Ford is addressing which is cool, but the point is no vehicle will be without its issues. Also, don't forget Ford has the same issues with the paint corrosion on their cars too. Will it happen to the Bronco..only time will tell.

I wish FCA would correct their corrosion issues, but I am not holding my breath.

Ford is immediately addressing the issues that were mainly because of the pandemic and a brand new 1st year vehicle. Jeep has had this issue for years. Either way no matter the manufacturer it should never take years to address an issue. It should last a month or 2 tops and be addressed and fixed immediately.

Just curious - I’m active on the bronco forum and have an order myself, I’ve seen all the issues you’ve stated except for issues regarding paint. What type of paint issues are people seeing in their Broncos?

Some have reported to have missing paint in the door jambs and runs down the rockers.
Not a huge deal IMO, but the fact for has had corrosion issues on other Al vehicles is concerning.

Had front door hinges done but they are going to be repainting again because you can tell where they painted the front half of the door and did a poor job blending

But that's the problem!!! I don't buy a couch knowing in a year, the leather is going to be worn and peeling. This NEEDS to be fixed at the factory level. Before buying a Jeep, I had no idea this was an issue. FIrst inclination I had was when the guy tinting my Jeep told me his mother had her Jeep a few years and got tired of dealing with the hinges and paint peeling (she had them fixed a few times). I thought to myself, "Oh, that won't happen to mine." Yep, here I am 1.5 years later dealing with the SAME issues.

There needs to be more media coverage and action to get Jeep to change something at the factory level!!!!!

Thoughts on acceptability of this job? I haven’t picked it up yet drove by after dealer was closed and I have their loaner. I am NOT HAPPY! I will be talking to them in morning and @JeepCares case manager.

why would they not just paint entire doors??

Also the makings for the T-50 are not crisp anymore- paint was loaded on and started filling them in.

That has to be one of the worst "feathering in" of paint I've ever seen. I really hope that I don't need to have body work on my Jeep until this labor "crisis" resolves itself.
